McKiddy Cakes — Restaurant in Sylvania

Mckiddy Cakes catered my wedding last October 2024. I will start this review out by saying the cake and cupcakes were delicious. When planning my wedding I planned it from 10 hours away so my mom was helping me with a lot of the details. My parents had originally met Jess for a consultation. My mom had written notes during the conversation. Written down (by my mother) was that we would receive a complementary 6" cake for our 1 year anniversary. Also written down was that we would have a package of cupcakes for bride and groom separate for later (which we never received). It is coming up on our 1 year anniversary and I contacted Jess to let her know my parents would be able to pick up the 6" for our 1 year anniversary. I was told that she no longer was offering the 6" anniversary cakes but she does a dozen mini cupcakes. I told her we weren't interested in the mini cupcakes we would prefer the 6" cake. There was a lot of back and forth messages and she states unfortunately even thought we had it in our notes we must have misunderstood her and we weren't getting a 6" cake with our "package". The complimentary cake was not on the contract but I did not realize that would have been on a contract when it was offered- also when signing so many contracts it gets hectic. I told Jess that we wanted the 6" cake we were planning on receiving- she stated she was not able to do it and apologized. I replied stating I would make sure to put that in the review- the next message the owner Jess sends is "Im so very sorry. If its that important to you I will make the cake"... Absolutely it is that important to us!!!!!!!!!!!! we were under the impression we were getting one so we did not freeze any of our cake to have on our 1 year. Now that I say I will make sure future brides are aware of small details told- you want to tell me you will do it... absolutely not- I do not want our anniversary cake done out of spite. She had multiple opportunities to make things right. And saying "if its really that important to you"... Is not the way to go. She out of anyone should know how important a wedding cake is to a couple. Super dissappointed in how things...

I am so glad we found McKiddy cakes. My husband and I attended a wedding day at Nazareth Hall and tried SO many cakes- NONE COMPARED TO THIS. Jessica’s cakes were beyond moist, she has an AMAZING frosting, and a plethora of flavors to choose from!!! We were BEYOND impressed with how our display turned out. The cake and cupcakes were a huge hit!! Every single one was eaten!! We did have a small communication hiccup (my fault), but she made sure everything was correct, contracts were signed, quantities were finalized, and made a beautiful display for us. I hired her for my wedding of October of 2023, and since the beginning of meeting her she was friendly and welcoming. I was so excited to try her desserts. Something happened where she did get the dates mixed up and we had to figure out alternatives last minute on the day. She did make it up by giving us a full refund and a free celebration cake for any event. We took her up on that and she did a cake and cookies for my sister's in law's baby shower. It came out amazing and exactly what she wanted. She owned up to her mistake and made it up majorly. I'd still recommend her...
