Tony Packo's is a historical Toledo staple and a must-visit for newcomers. The Sylvania location is a better choice if you're living/staying on the west side of town, or don't want to go downtown during the busy weekend evenings. However, if you're new to Toledo and have never been to Packo's, the Front St location just east of Downtown is the "original location", and remains for the most part untouched. The Sylvania location, like others besides the Front St Packo's, has gone through some changes over the years. It was originally located in the Sylvania Country Squire plaza on Monroe St, but now sits next to Taco Bell on Alexis Rd just a block over when it was renovated in 2018.
It has had an extensive branding and layout change, clearly an effort to modernize and compete with many of the newer chains popping up around the city. The old location honestly felt like a Hungarian biker bar. Everything was covered in stained hardwood. Now there's granite counter-tops and #OnlineOrdering.
The new layout still has the familiar cafeteria-style eating arrangement, but the new space is much more open with taller ceilings, and a sleeker overall look. Compared to the old location, it feels much cleaner and modern, but without losing many of the elements that made the old location what it was. The sacred relics - signed hotdog buns from various cultural icons - are prominently displayed as with each Packo's location, and elsewhere throughout the restaurant are elements of the old location. They also built some great new displays for their merch, and seem to have partnered with more vendors to make Packos-branded stuff to blow money on. The menu appears untouched, other than the obvious branding re-touches to the menus themselves.
I hadn't been to the old Sylvania location in years, despite living a merely 1/4 mile away, because it felt old and dingy. The remodel and refresh is a welcome sight, and I've already been back, enjoying the same great food, but with much better style. I highly recommend a trip whether you're a Sylvania native or a newcomer...

My family and I have been going to Tony Packo's for over 20 years. It was a place for our large family to dine out and enjoy a meal that was good comfort food, affordable for a bigger family, and quick. We have remained loyal customers throughout the years and although I do not frequent as much as my parents (who used to go weekly) my own family and I would go about once a month (they love those Packo Pickles).
I recently took a friend to Packo's and was surprised by the price increase and just the feel of a very dreary dine-in atmosphere. I completely understand price increases, but I feel that maybe we aren't paying for better quality or even inflation pricing. Just seemed like a really big and noticeable pricing jump.
Although Packo's is a Toledo staple for many and provides some classic comfort food, I am not sure if we will be...

The staff is incredibly welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. One thing that really stood out during our visit was the quick service time - our food arrived just minutes after we placed our order.
However, if you're health-conscious, you may find the menu options a bit limited. While the food is delicious, there aren't many healthy choices available. So, if you're looking for a salad or a lighter meal, you might want to look elsewhere.
Overall, Tony Packo's Sylvania is a great spot for a quick, satisfying meal. With its friendly staff and fresh food, it's a perfect choice for those who want a delicious bite to eat without spending too much time...
