I used to love this place. Been a fan since they first opened. Unfortunately, this particular location is steadily declining. I live 5 minutes away, and used to eat here multiple times a week. Now I might eat here 1 a month and each time it is more disappointing. One highlight has always been the staff, but this past visit the staff was not at all friendly and seemed super annoyed with my 11:00am pick up order through the app. I chose whatever the earliest pickup option was, and they made it obvious they were not thrilled with when I walked in to pick up my order. I walked to the pick up area and the girl said “You have a pick up”, I said “yes” She says “well, it’s not ready.” My response, “Oh. Ok.” I admit I looked a little confused as at this point there a customer is in line, ordering way more than me, that has had all his food (same protein) made and is walking out the door. After he was served she made my bowls and stuck them in a bag and literally tossed it across the counter and says “Here.” I said “Thank you very much” and she said nothing. I walked over and grabbed some napkins and left. The other customer left before me. There was literally no one else in the restaurant besides the staff and myself. I then get home with our 2 meals: I order my sick kid a bowl with white rice and paid for extra chicken ($14). That was it. No toppings, no sauce, no cheese, nothing. Just white rice and extra chicken as the kids meals do not offer a bowl other than rice and beans and he did not want a burrito. It’s $2.99 for chicken on a Build Your Own bowl, and $5.98 for “extra chicken;” therefore that should equate to double chicken. There was maybe one palm full of chicken on there at the most. Looked like 1 servings worth, definitely not double. My kid thought I forgot to order extra chicken. I did not. Then I open my Build Your Own bowl. It was supposed to be a single serving of chicken. I literally could not find the chicken. I then started digging through the lettuce to find exactly 8 pieces of the tiniest chicken chunks possible that were barely bigger than an edamame. I picked at it and put it in the fridge until dinner when I had time to make some protein for my rice salad. So for $26 plus tip I basically got white rice and clearly frustrated employees. This was never the Currito experience. I will say the quality of the ingredients continues to be superior. It still sucks that they got rid of the Teriyaki sauce. No idea why. It had to sell so much more than all the new flavors. If I want Currito now, I visit the Kenwood location. Staff, atmosphere, quality and portions always seem to be consistent and on par with the...
Read morePEOPLE WITH FOOD ALLERGIES OR WHO CARE ABOIT THEIR HEALTH: Do NOT come here! It’s not a clean place and they do not care about cross-contamination.
I called ahead and said I had a sensitive stomach and food allergies. I asked about cleanliness, cross-contamination and everything. I was reassured repeatedly by the gentleman on the phone that the place was so clean that he stayed there for a year and a half, even though it was a temp part time, and that they took food allergies very seriously. The gentleman I spoke to gave his full name, said please call back if something is wrong (to which I replied, I can’t have anything go wrong, which is why I’m calling). He reassured me again.
My partner brings the bowls home. I open it up, and begin to eat some of the sweet potatoes, hummus, pumpkin seeds and rice. I notice it tastes a little off, and look around. Lo and behold, there’s a giant chunk of meat in my bowl. I threw the whole thing away but not before eating enough that I just took activated charcoal and am praying I won’t need to go to the hospital. Beyond that, investigating the rest of the bowl, it had an odd smell, like it was not at all fresh. I was so hungry and I’m so stuffed up from being sick that I didn’t notice. The side of mango salsa had same smell. Looking closer at the sweet potato, several of them had rotten spots. I’ve included photos of one. (Also, and less of an issue but the rice looks like instant Uncle Ben’s).
I am LIVID. I am already sick and this could push me over the edge. I am sitting here next to my Epi-Pens, hoping none of my life threatening allergens made it into the bowl. Even if it’s “only” an unclean food, that could also land me in huge health trouble. When someone asks, you should be honest! Say - hey, maybe this isn’t the place for you.
And here’s the kicker, I called back and asked for that guy and they just kept saying who? Like they didn’t know who it was. Giving me an attitude. Then when I finally said I just talked to him and he gave me his name, they said oh, he left.
Pics attached of hunk of meat and one of rotted out sweet potatoes. Going to make a claim against this place and report to the health department, state AG etc. I am so angry! I went there for nutrition. I’ve tried hard to find a place I could get takeout from. I am too sick to cook right now, covid or something. If this is Ohio’s idea of healthy fast casual, that’s...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer at this location for the past three years and have always had positive experiences — it’s truly been one of my favorite spots. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me quite disappointed. Typically, I ask for extra sweet potatoes because the standard portion is quite small. Over time, I’ve noticed the amount has decreased to just a few cubes, so I began requesting two or three scoops. This has never been an issue at other locations. However, during my last visit, the staff member being trained was instructed not to give me more than a scoop and a half — even though I had already paid extra for steak, bringing my total to $18 for a bowl that included just a scoop and a half of sweet potatoes, three scoops of chickpeas, and rice. When I politely asked about the portion, I was told that’s the maximum allowed. I mentioned that I wouldn’t be returning to this location, and the employee responded, “That’s fine.” I understand policies may vary, but I felt the response lacked empathy and consideration for a loyal customer. This location is conveniently on my way home from work, and I genuinely looked forward to stopping by. I don’t mind paying for quality food, but I do expect fair portions — especially when a whole sweet potato costs about a dollar. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes it can be taken constructively. I’d love to continue supporting this location, but I also hope consistency and customer care can be prioritized. Moving forward, I’ll be visiting other locations that demonstrate a stronger...
