Where do I even begin? I’ve been wanting to try this place and was very excited when my friends suggested that we eat there today. It’s very nice on the inside so I was looking forward to a great first experience. My anticipation began to fade once we seated ourselves outside on the patio and waited at least 10-12 minutes for a greeting and a menu. Shortly after, another party sat themselves right next to us and they were promptly greeted and given menus. About another 15 minutes goes by before our server finally comes to take our drink orders. She took our drink orders and then disappeared inside for a considerable amount of time. She brings our drinks out, only gives two out of the four of us a straw for our drink as if that was normal and went on about her business? I had to ask her if she had more straws and then she goes yes, looks in her apron, and then says no because there was none and then went to grab some more. She comes back, gives the other two of us our straws. I know we all have rough days but she was quite a bit of a train wreck from the start and was not tentative or considerate at all. About 10 minutes later, someone comes out and serves the party that seated themselves after us the nachos they had the opportunity to order way before us. I kid you not, about 20 more minutes go by and then randomly a totally different server comes out and greets us. The girls who were served their nachos ate an entire huge platter of nachos and left before we even got to order our food. To top it all off, yet another party comes and seats themselves. All greeted promptly, given menus, and orders taken in a timely manner. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse. After about another 10 minutes of waiting, our server finally comes and takes our food order. I’m finally somewhat excited again to try the food. Somehow, about 5 or so minutes later the new party of three that came in after the other that I mentioned earlier, were all served their food. Our food finally comes, the rude busser with the glasses and black hair comes out and has no idea who ordered what. We were telling him who ordered what and since his team didn’t seem to communicate to him that mine was made on flour tortillas, he had no idea which one was supposed to be mine. He got visibly annoyed and looked up at the sky in frustration as if I pissed him off for mentioning that I got flour and it was somehow my fault he did not know which one was supposed to be mine. Out of frustration from the confusion, he looks down and goes, “I’ll be back.” Suddenly, he had an epiphany and realized which ones were mine and gave them to me. Both him and our initial female server could really use some more training on customer service. I’ve been working in customer service since I was 16. I’m now 27 and it drives me insane seeing how customer service employees act nowadays. I wish I was joking when I said it only got worse after that. I got the birria tacos and they were literally rock hard and so overdone on the outside that it looked and felt like they had been deep fried. Mind you, my friends also all ordered the same thing except on corn tortillas and theirs all looked cooked just fine. I know the tortillas are dipped in the consome and then cooked again which gives them that brownish color but that was not the case with mine. I apologized for bringing it up but I mentioned to the busser that they looked and felt overdone and that I was truly sorry for being a pest. If I’m paying $20 for three tiny tacos, I want to enjoy them and not feel like I’m eating a hard shell taco. The busser told me they were that way because that’s how birria tacos are made as if I did not know what birria tacos are and how they are made. He gave me even more attitude and I apologized once again yet he totally ignored me and stormed off back into the restaurant like a brat that just got sent to his room for getting an F on his report card. However, the tall strawberry blonde guy had somewhat decent customer service compared to the other two....
Read moreMy husband and I went there for an early dinner and a drink. Fortunately, it wasn't that busy yet and we were able to find a table outside. The last time we ate here, we were very disappointed in the food quality we received and thought it was just a fluke visit. We have enjoyed many meals over the years here and didn't think it could be any worse than our previous visit. Boy, was I wrong. We ordered a Mexican Chopped Salad and Beef Nachos, and it came in about 15 minutes. I'll start with the nachos- they looked absolutely terrible. There wasn't much to them. I couldn't see the meat and the cheese wasn't even melted, it just looked someone had thrown some shredded cheese on top and served it that way. I asked the server to please take them back because of the unmelted cheese. She argued with me and claimed she had just taken them out of the salamander. I told her to touch them as they were cold to the touch and it was apparent the cheese never melted. They looked old, grayish, and hard. She took them away and I was going to eat the salad. However, the avocado was missing and I never received my salad dressing. It was almost all lettuce with a little bit of chicken, a little bit of bacon, and a giant handful of stale tortilla chips on top. After 20 minutes passed, our server came to the table and asked how everything was. I asked for my salad dressing and the avocado that I never received, not too mention we were still waiting for the nachos. At this point, I was so annoyed that I wanted to just leave and asked for the check. Our server told me he only charged me for the salad and the cocktail. He acted as though he did me a favor by removing the nachos that we never received. I used to love Moctezuma's, but after this experience, I will never go back. It's sad to see how downhill this restaurant has gone. I am very disappointed that I waisted my money on poor service and...
Read moreThe only reason I am leaving this review is because Moctuzuma's has not responded to the email I sent them over a week ago, expressing my concerns. As a business owner it is so appreciated to get a chance to make something right before receiving a poor review. Here is our experience...
We discovered the Impossible tacos during covid and were so excited to have this vegan gluten free option. We visited on the 5th, sat in the bar and ordered the Impossible tacos. When we received our order, we noticed that the "meat" looked different than how we remembered. After asking the waitress, she let us know that they are making a lot of menu changes and that it might be something else. It tasted like field roast which is typically not gluten free, which we mentioned and she casually said, it could be and she wasn't sure. There was no offer to look into it or concern about a possible allergy or even celiac disease (which thank goodness we don't have! and I certainly hope someone who does presses harder to get the information). When our bill came, it was a credit card machine and not easy to see the whole bill, not to mention when someone is standing there waiting for you to finish paying, you feel a bit rushed. We didn't notice they charged for the Pico that came with the order, so mentioned it after we got our printed receipt (which we requested) It seemed like we caused an inconvenience bringing this us. They did fix it, but it didn't feel good at all and the same tip amount was on there, so it didn't adjust for the lower ticket price, even though we did a percentage tip. We left feeling pretty disappointed. The same experience could have happened with different service and it would have been a completely different feeling. Doubtful we...
