It’s very unfortunate my experience in this restaurant! We arrived around 7pm and were told there is a 2 hour wait, I understand business seeing it’s Valentine’s Day. My 4 year old really wanted sushi, so I looked over the menu to at least order him a roll to go! Another father and daughter came in and ordered to go as well since they were told 2 hours too. Couples came in with reservations, and we were sitting right in the front next to the register. This next couple and child came in, no reservation I listened to the conversation and they said they would wait! Mind you I have not been given my to go order. Literally after sitting for maybe 20 mins that table that had no reservation was sat! I’m baffled and upset, we were a table of 3, how come we had to wait? Is it because the two table that were told 2 hours were of color? I spoke to the manager in regards to this, and feel very passionate about making it aware the lack of customer service in this restaurant. My husband is of mixed race, and this is not the first experience of such discrimination. Nothing can hurt your soul more then this kind of behavior towards your family! On top of that my to go order was just sitting on the shelf for however long! My order was place at 7:06, it was handed to me around 7:50! This needs to be addressed with the trappers sushi 3120 6th ave location! As we walked out the restaurant staff is smirking and laughing like something was funny, disgusted with the staffs behavior! I have been to trappers in lacey many times and it is fantastic. This one however is not. First off i go to the hostess to get a table for me and my son, and they say it will be 10-15 mins i said sure no problem. We sit down to wait… and wait… and wait. Finally after 30 mins i go back to the hostess who looks completely frazzled(it is busy but not packed) and ask her if she knows how much longer. She says oh yeah sorry its going to be another 15-20 im like whoa what? If we would have known we would have went somewhere else! She says oh sorry about that. We wait another 30 mins about to leave now… finally call our name. We ordered our food like right away because obviously after waiting so long we were starving. I have to have gluten free and i felt like the waitress was sort of snotty about my questions cause i have other food allergies as well. It took them another 40 mins to bring our food. My son said his was delicious (kids chicken teriyaki) mine was just ok… GF BUDDAH ROLL. I felt like they didn't really take the time on mine. One of the pieces was completely empty no shrimp or veggies and another one was almost empty. I told the waitress and she said sorry but nothing else. ****Edit**** I am editing my stars because Trappers corp did reach out to me and made it right. Very nice and understanding and just as surprised as I was with the service. They will use this as a training opportunity.

My husband and I usually do our sushi date nights here for their ayce. If you go for dinner you get to select from both lunch and dinner menu for their ayce. Parking can be horrible here sometimes so try to go during non-peak hours to try and get decent parking. Our wait time was only about 15 minutes which wasn’t bad for the amount of people trying to get seated I guess it’s a hit or miss when it comes to your sushi chef and server. The most recent time we have gone there, our sushi chefs were mainly trying to get orders out for customers in the dining area than those sitting at the sushi bar. So we spent majority of the time waiting until they were ready to take and serve our orders. The sushi here is usually good. For the price for ayce I’d say it’s worth it than doing Ala carte per roll. Sign up for their reward programs to earn points towards future purchases which can be redeemed as dollar off your bill. You’ll thank me later.

A Sumptuous Sushi Surprise at Trapper's Sushi, Tacoma

Five stars simply don't suffice to encapsulate the magnificent experience one enjoys at Trapper's Sushi in Tacoma. A gleaming gem in the heart of this bustling city, it effortlessly combines delightful décor, an electric atmosphere, and a tantalizing selection of sushi that delights both the eyes and the palate.

From the moment you step into this chic, contemporary restaurant, you're instantly wrapped in an ambiance that perfectly balances the serenity of a traditional sushi bar with a modern dining milieu. The courteous and knowledgeable staff are on hand to guide you through the expansive menu, ensuring your visit to Trapper's Sushi becomes a memorable gastronomic adventure.

Trapper's Sushi truly excels in its culinary offerings. Their staggering variety of unique sushi rolls is, without exaggeration, a feast for the senses. Every roll is a carefully crafted work of art that represents an exploration of flavor, texture, and presentation. From their classic staple rolls to their inventive, signature creations, each selection offers a novel experience.

Take, for example, the exotic 'Northwest Philly'. An imaginative fusion of traditional Japanese sushi and American flavors, this roll combines fresh salmon, cream cheese, and avocado, topped off with a light drape of smoked salmon that's seared table-side for an unforgettable performance. Not to forget the 'Tacoma Rain Roll', a unique blend of shrimp tempura and spicy tuna, crowned with sweet mango and sprinkled with crispy tempura bits, that never fails to bring a touch of sunshine to the gloomiest of days.

Their vegan and vegetarian options are equally impressive, with rolls like the 'Garden Delight' that combines seasonal vegetables and tofu to create a harmonious balance of flavors, proving sushi is far more than just seafood.

But variety isn't the only thing that sets Trapper's Sushi apart. The quality of their ingredients is evident in every bite. The fish is impeccably fresh, the rice perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the combination of ingredients in each roll is thoughtfully curated to create a symphony of flavors.

Pair your meal with their eclectic collection of sakes, Japanese beers, or artisan cocktails, and you're set for an extraordinary dining experience. And if you're lucky enough to visit during happy hour, you're in for a real treat with their special deals on sushi rolls and drinks.

In conclusion, Trapper's Sushi in Tacoma is not just a place to eat; it's a place to explore, to savor, and to fall in love with sushi all over again. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or a newbie looking to dip your toes into this delectable world, Trapper's Sushi is the place to be. A culinary journey awaits you, and it's one you won't...

"I'll have the Bonney Lake, please" will never leave my mouth again.

Honest review time. I'm sorry, I just couldn't do the 2/5 as I was driving home from my FIRST time at Trapper's Sushi in Tacoma. Story time.

Arrived to Trapper's around 3:30pm. We were pleasantly greeted at the front, which turned out to be about the only thing that went well at this restaurant. They told us it would be around 15-20 minutes if we wanted to sit up at the "all you can eat" counter-top. We agreed, and took our places in line. Around 3:55pm, we were seated up at the counter-top. A couple minutes later someone came by and took our drink orders, which also arrived promptly. This is really where our experience took a turn for the worst..

I sat right between two sushi windows. I thought that would make this process quicker because the party to my left was finished eating and had paid, and I had two chef's in front of me. Nope! It seemed like the young lady and the gentlemen behind the counter were most interested in talking to each other than serving us food.. Or drinks. Or even communicating with us whatsoever. It wasn't until 4:10pm that he asked me what I was hungry for.. "I'll have the Bonney Lake, please" I said. Keep in mind, the ingredients on the "All you can eat" menu don't tell you what's deep fried and what isn't..

Out of the FOUR dishes I have, THREE were deep-fried. Holy smokes. And THREE of the dishes were covered in.. Something unknown. Either imitation crab meat, or what seemed to be tiny circular noodles. It was just overwhelming. To make matters worse, we basically had to inconvenience the chef to make food. As if my presence was something that he didn't anticipate that day. Or ever before in history.

I'll admit the food was actually tasty when you removed all the toppings. Buried DEEP inside layers and layers of sauce soaked whatever-it-was, something delicious was there. Deep fried 75% of the time, but delicious.

What really topped the experience off though, was the "chef" in blue. What a guy. My friend had asked another chef "Isn't this supposed to come with tempura?" kindly, I'll add, when he mocked her OUT LOUD in earshot. Luckily, she didn't hear it.. And I opted to not say anything, but wow. It was unbelievable. If you're going to mock a paying customer, and we were paying customers believe me (the dinner "all you can eat" was $29 after tax which wasn't mentioned AT ALL DURING OUR ENTIRE STAY) do it in the back of the restaurant and lie to my face the rest of the time.

Horrible. Thanks Trapper's Sushi! Also, don't attempt to call the store to speak with a manager. It's been 2 hours now, and nothing. No call back. Called four times to speak with someone....

I really wanted to love this place but they really fell short of my expectations. Ordered four rolls for pickup on Valentine's Day using their online ordering system which was really easy to use and gave me a pickup time of 5:25pm, 60 minutes after I put in my order. Totally fine, it was Valentine's Day and probably pretty busy. It also gave me the option of curbside pickup which I selected and entered my details for, which I thought was a really service since it can be tough to find easy parking around there. My wife went to pick up the order on her way home from work and it started going downhill from there. There was no clear curbside pickup location so she ended up having to search for parking and go in. She checked in a few minutes before the pickup time and expected to have to wait a little bit. But as the clock passed 5:25 and other customers started coming in after her and picking up their orders right away, she checked with the host again and they told her it was almost ready. This happened about every 10 minutes over the next half hour where they just kept telling her it was "almost ready." Finally about 6:00 they brought out our order, 35 minutes after the already 60 minutes they told us it would take. If I hadn't already added a tip online, we would not have left a tip. If they had told us that it would take an hour and a half up front, that would have been fine, but making people wait when you clearly haven't even started their food is a waste of time, and not how anyone wants to spend time after work especially on Valentine's Day.

Furthermore, the sushi itself was mostly disappointing, definitely not worth the $75 we paid and the time we waited for it. The rolls we got were mediocre at best, except for the Monster Roll which was delicious! Also, I had specified on the customizations offered that I wanted Ginger only and no wasabi. Well, each container of ginger had a glob of wasabi right on top of it, infecting all the ginger with its spiciness and making it inedible for me. If you're not going to pay attention to the customizations, why offer them? Unfortunately, I'll be unsubscribing from their loyalty program that I signed up for after creating my order and will not be...
