We've only lived in the DC area for 3 years so maybe I add that disclaimer before saying: this is by far the best pizza I've had. I had a slice of roasted shishito pepper, pancetta, roasted tomato, and corn. It was out of this world: beautiful blend of flavors, excellent texture, delicious crust. I was a little stunned, if I'm honest. For dessert I had the first soft serve that tasted like fresh cream instead of a powdered mix. It was verbena lemon with small slices of fresh peaches. The price might have been soft-open only (they waved me in off the street) so I won't post it, but it was very affordable and fair. I am already so thankful they opened. Welcome!

Fantastic pizza. I am generally a New York style pizza person, but Red Hound's sourdough square pizza delivers something different and satisfying. The sourdough is phenomenal. The sauce is savory and tangy. We had a pepperoni pizza and a bacon, onion, and mushroom pizza. Both pizzas came with fantastically balanced flavors. We had a side salad with fresh greens and a bright refreshing mustard vinaigrette. The service is friendly and eager to make you feel welcome. This is our new Friday pizza spot. We're looking forward to trying new pizza specials.

I thought the pizza was very good and unique on the sourdough crust and it was good sauce and salty (yum). They even let my dog come in to pick up a quick order and I thought the staff was very kind! I would come back BUT this tiny slice (about half a regular slice- maybe smaller than half) was 4.77 with tax. My hand is for scale. I found the price to be very disappointing and can’t believe they are charging that much for such a tiny slice.

Red Hound Pizza has become the favorite pizza place in Takoma Park for me and many of my friends who live nearby. Their pizzas are hearty and delicious with a thick, 100% whole wheat crust using flours that are grown and milled by one of their neighbors just down the street. They also use local produce when possible and therefore their veggie pizza rotates every two weeks. They also have soft serve which rotates regularly with fun toppings like roasted pear or dehydrated chocolate cake. The owners are really great. The pizza is on the expensive side ($4-5/slice) compared to other pizza so you gotta pay a premium for high-quality ingredients. They also sell pizza by the slice. You can dine-in for casual eating -- they only have a few small tables inside and some more picnic tables in a closed off parking lot in the back. Take note: their pizza is rectangular! And the crust will taste different from almost any other pizza you've had bc of the 100% whole wheat sourdough. Also they don't have gluten-free options but they do always have a vegan option. fwiw Red Hound always uses 100% whole grains -- this will appeal to some (more protein, more fiber!) and...

I love pizza and have tried so many pizza places around DC and am always underwhelmed. After 15 years in DC and more pizza places than I can count I just gave up, until a friend recommended Red Hound. I was hesitant to try it because of my past disappoint but agreed to meet there for their soft serve and was enticed to try a slice because it looked amazing! One bite and I was hooked. I ordered several pizzas for my son’s birthday the next day and everyone at the party was raving about it. Just writing this message I’m tempted to order it again for lunch because it was such a hit there were no leftovers from the party like I’d hoped. On top of this the staff were kind and helpful and they also have a cute little back patio area made up in the back. I’m literally in love with this place and both want everyone to go there and also hope it doesn’t get over run like some joints and lose its charm and...

This is a lovely little gem tucked away in a beautiful part of Takoma Park, Maryland. The owners have transformed a small space into a really inviting spot with a few cozy indoor tables, a counter showcasing the day’s pizza slices, and a wonderful outdoor area perfect for families and friends to relax and enjoy.

Their homemade ice creams are truly special…you can taste the care in every bite, with local and seasonal ingredients shining through. They even offer at least one vegan ice cream and pizza option, along with plenty of choices for meat lovers. It’s clear the owners put real thought and care into crafting food that’s both delicious and healthy.

A charming neighborhood spot worth visiting...
