This has been the worst possible experience at a restaurant in a long time.
First of all, I don’t write reviews. I’d rather simply leave a one-five star depending on the way my experience was at a restaurant but this one definitely takes the trophy for the worst possible experience. Everything that could’ve gone wrong in this visit went wrong.
We had a party of 16 people for my girlfriend's birthday and called a week ahead of the planned date to make sure we could accommodate everyone accordingly. The suggestion was to not make a reservation and just come the day of the birthday since it was a Monday night and sit everyone in separate tables but close to each other. We did exactly as suggested and arrived 15 minutes before our guests to set everything up. The hostess welcomed us in an “okay” manner before leading us to our table. Not even a “good evening how are you doing” or anything of that matter, she instantly went with the words “There are no servers at this time so all of the food you will have to get from the bar”. That’s not out of the ordinary so no problems this far. We followed instructions and ordered a filet and some drinks at bar that were really good. The bartender was really polite and even helped with some shareable recommendations. Food arrives and instantly the hostess (not the bartender because we sat down after we ordered) immediately asks me to cut the filet to make sure it was properly cooked. Again, nothing strange but a little bit concerning considering it is a high-quality restaurant that’s suppose to have good chefs. Our guests start arriving and only one of the guests arrives in time to get some nachos before they closed the kitchen. The rest of them ordered drinks and we were having a really good time before everything started to go downhill. Keep in mind that we were the only group sitting down at the tables because the rest of the people were either at the bar or on the outside. My gf’s friends started taking pictures with her next to the outer rooftop windows because they had a nice view and also since the hostess had told us that we were not allowed to go outside for photos because it was closed but there was people eating outside. This was said in a scolding way and with little respect toward her friends. One of them had a digital camera and he was not allowed to take photos with it but the phone’s camera was allowed. This started to get out of proportion because we were respectful with what she said and as a group we were making sure to not be loud or make anyone else that was not part of our group uncomfortable. To put this in a perspective of our time spent inside the restaurant, we brought out our own birthday cake and wanted to sing happy birthday around 9:10-9:20 (restaurant was supposed to close at 10pm) and the hostess said that we were not allowed to sing happy birthday and had to immediately leave because they were “closed”. The same hostess that was talking to everyone else at the restaurant but treating us unfairly. It is one thing to kick a group for not adhering to the code of conduct of a restaurant and that would make sense but this woman kicked us out because she just felt like it. Her excuses were that we did not order drinks (the majority of the party had drinks) and me with my gf spent more than $70 in food so that didn’t make sense whatsoever. I don’t like to bring this topic into discussion but I genuinely feel that we were racially targeted and the woman just felt the need to only kick us out early (30 mins before closing) and having no justified excuses to do it and claiming the place was fully closed while they were people sitting at the bar and at the outside.
This restaurant is seriously mistreating their clientele and I would not ever recommended anyone to come to this place because of the lack of professionalism and customer service. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what we...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the lady at the hotel front desk told everyone the restaurant was closed so people left. I asked how are they closed, they confirmed an hour ago. The front desk just ignored us. Before we jumped back in our Uber the restaurant called to confirm our table a 2nd time. We told them we are in the lobby but, the front desk said they were closed. Not sure what happened there but, they were open. Such a gorgeous view, we were the only people dining. Our server Jordan had excellent customer service, attentive, and knowledgeable. She was kind enough to offer to take pictures of us inside and outside. We really loved the nachos and fried deviled eggs. Drinks were really good and refreshing. They were playing really loud country music for a good 45 minutes. We asked the server if the music can have a variety. We were the only table there so you would think that was an easy request. Here is where it went left super fast! The server went to the Manager, Beagle and gestured to our table. She looked in our direction, put her hair in a bun, and proceeded to our table angrily. We asked about the music and she said it changes channels every 2 hours. We tried to reason with her. Letting her know we were celebrating a birthday and we would stay longer if we could get a variety of music. She refused. She was so uptight and defensive and didn't care we were the only ones dining. She pointed to the bar where 3 men were sitting drinking beer and said, they don't care about the music! At this point, we asked for someone above her and she said there was nobody above her. We asked if she was the owner and she said no but, nobody is above me. She threw her hands in the air and said I'm done here! When she stormed off, my niece went to the restroom. The Manager was in a room with the door open talking about our table. If it wasn't for another Manager, Tommy this night would have been a complete disaster! He was apologic to the situation and switched the music. He didn't have to but, also gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. We were there to celebrate a birthday. We really wished the whole experience was amazing. Too bad something that simple had to be so difficult. We will never go back here as long as she's there.
P.S. wow... Read the other low rating reviews on here after I posted. Should have read before I went (I would have been better prepared). Crazy how there is a woman Manager mentioned a few times that was aggressive and rude. If you dine here and you come across something you may not like, don't complain to the MOD, Chris Beagle. It will ruin your whole night. Maybe it's time for her to retire, drink a strong cocktail, and chillax!!! Maybe blow one too and take that how you want to. Customer service isn't her goal. Being right and having things her way is the only...
Read moreI suspect the rooftop bar team, dj from last night (Saturday, May 26th, 2024), and whatever managers or directors oversee them behaved in a racist and discriminatory manner last night. The hotel had been contacted as a wedding was taking place this weekend and would bring in many out of town guests, all of whom were suggested to stay here (and many of whom had bad experiences with their rooms, too, citing cockroaches, smoke smell and hairs). Additionally, the bride and groom had checked with them that the rooftop bar would be open until 2am, which they were confirmed would be the case. So they brought in paying customers from the wedding up to the rooftop bar to continue the celebration. When the dj was asked to play some Hispanic music to dance to, after begrudgingly playing two songs, everyone was asked to leave, even after they had just purchased $15+(each drink) drinks to enjoy. When asked why we were getting kicked out, they just said they were closing, even though that same night maybe half an hour earlier a guest had again asked to confirm both up at the rooftop bar and down at reception that the rooftop bar was supposed to be open until 2am. When everyone got clearly upset because of this sudden, unexplained change, they still didn’t give any other explanation. At which point some guests expressed they felt this was a discriminatory decision, and when they started taking videos of those present and in charge that night to hold accountable, they were threatened to have police come to arrest them. Since they weren’t doing anything illegal, this threat also felt discriminatory. In short, hotel is less than impressive inside the rooms, and unpredictable and racist customer service up at the rooftop bar- better to spend your LEGALLY EARNED money and time somewhere else. Tallahassee has several locally owned places where you can have a better experience than this overhyped and out of...
