The Museum of Florida History provides a permanent physical recreation and exhibition of the history of the state of Florida and its inhabitants, starting from its pre-historic beginnings. A surprisingly large exhibition space winds you through the timeline of history and offers well crafted exhibits, in which you can get lost for hours. Read moreI love this place, and am only giving it a rating of 3 out of personal disappointment---no, actually because something of major historical significance is missing. There should be a major set of displays dedicated to the discovery, excavation, and conservation of the state's oldest shipwrecks, that of the three vessels of the 1559 Tristan de Luna fleet that sunk in Pensacola Bay that have thus far been excavated by the University of West Florida. I suspect there is something on display at one of the museums there but this really seems an oversight for THE MUSEUM OF FLORIDA HISTORY all-caps for emphasis. So🤔 not sure if he was referencing Grandma's Attic, the ship, the coloring table or the many exhibits?
It's so much and it is rich in history.
I enjoyed it and my kids went 2-3x a week the summer before my oldest started Kindergarten.
There's a cafe and they provided free parking with a token if you get it at the guard's desk or gift shop.
