Guthrie's — Restaurant in Tallahassee

The food was extremely salty, and the owner was as well. I called after I reached my home which was across town, and the assistant manager said that I could bring the complete meal that we didn't touch back, because I told her that I didn't want another meal (I had already thrown two of them in the garbage). She said that she remembered me, and to bring that meal and my receipt for a full refund. When I arrived she was off. The staff on duty called her and she confirmed what she told me. They then called the owner. He showed up in about 10 minutes, and accused me of eating the food and possibly just wanting a refund. I assured him that I wasn't in need of the $24 refund, but it was the principle of it all. You sold me a meal that was supposed to be edible, and it wasn't. He suggested that I go home and "dig" the food out of my outside garbage can, in the dark....NOT HAPPENING....I then asked if he would just refund my money for the one meal, and that I would escalate the matter elsewhere. He informed me that it wouldn't go anywhere, because the buck stopped with him, and I could do whatever I wanted. I asked him to end the conversation, and give me my money. He kept talking, and I then told him that he needed to let it go, and just give me MY money. Considering the fact that the food was not edible, I had to return across town to bring the food back, and HIS assistant manager stated that she would return my money I feel that he should've given me my money and kept his threatening attitude, nevertheless I will never patronize the Guthries, on North Monroe Street, in Tallahassee, Florida again. My suggestion for anyone who chooses to spend their money there to taste their food, before they leave the counter, or the drive thru window and to beware that the owner is rude and he really doesn't seem to care if you shop there or not....at least he didn't care about me and my measly $24.xx.....no stars from me (this site wouldn't post my comment, if I didn't pick at least one star...

Its been 30 years since I've had their Sauce with a side of strips & fries. The chicken tenders were actually better than I remembered with just a little dusting of flower, light seasoning, and gently deep fried, imo, to perfection. The i remembered were above average quality and seasoned, if I remember correctly, seasoned salt. Unfortunately, these fries were lacking in, well every category from undercooked, no seasoning, and tasted like they were in the freezer too long. Now the sauce is perplexing to my tastebuds, I want to think I'm tasting a blend of mayo, mustard, ketchup, and pepper which everyone from 8 to 80 blind, crippled, or crazy either has tried or has perfected. Now add Pickle Juice??🤔Hmm That being said, this revisit to my past was ultimately a pleasure with the only regrets being, the fries, and the Service(drive through attendant) now i will mention that through her haste and total lack of interest she didn't add the large beverage we ordered to our ticket. We brought it to her attention that we did indeed order it, but weren't charged for it. Well she never acknowledged us either way, but she handed us the beverage at know charge and I honestly think that she was not only unaware whether was paid, but she obviously didn't care. Abysmal service usually, for me, ruins my experience and it reflects in my reviews, but at Guthrie's it's obvious that the are aware of their customers likes & dislikes, and their main products have withstood the test of time. I cant hold them responsible for how 1 employee acts toward 1(+1) customer at that particular time. So 5⭐ for Guthrie's -1⭐ for the employee. It will not be 30 years before I eat...

I love Guthries, and sadly don’t live close to one, so I stop when I’m traveling.

This was by far the worst Guthries I’ve ever been to. We walked inside and no one was at the front counter and all the tables were dirty. It took 3+ minutes for someone to come up from the kitchen where we could hear everyone talking and cursing while goofing around. None of the employees had on any sort of uniform, their clothes were all super casual and mismatched.

After placing our order I used the bathroom before getting back on the road. The walk to the restroom was greasy and disgusting. DISGUSTING! They must use the floor drain in the ladies room when “cleaning” the floors, because they were also covered in grease and grime. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, either.

They didn’t bag our order or give us any napkins or silverware. Our fries had no seasoning.
