Los Carnales Fusion — Restaurant in Tallahassee

This is going to sound strange, but this place in the middle of Tallahassee has some of the best tamales I've ever had. I qualify this observation by telling you that I actively seek out tamales in my travels across the country, and I also need you to understand I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown away by a random restaurant far away from where tamales come from. The Guatemalan version of this dish is by far my favorite, and the chefs craftsmanship is evident in every bite. The masa, the flling, and the interplay of both the mouth-feel and flavors make this a dish that I will repeatedly return for.

Everything my group had this evening was top-notch, actually (the stew, the birria tacos, and the carne asada tacos). lf all of those dishes were rated as "A", then the tamales would have earned an "A++++" in comparison. The ambiance and service here are both homey, genuine, and comforting. I feel as though I was visiting some friends that happen to be dang culinary geniuses.

This place is on "The List" of places for me to eat with great regularity here in Tallahassee, and I want to see it succeed...

I honestly loved this restaurant, the atmosphere may be a hole in the wall kind vibe but the food is super good. I personally met the owner and she was so sweet, her employees also. One of her employees Roxana was amazing, very friendly. The food overall I would have to say was super good I had the birria tacos and it was not overdone like other restaurants in Tallahassee. I am from Mexico and the restaurants here typically overdo it, this place his the spot with authenticity. All the employees told me that it was a family owned establishment, not sure about the other reviews saying that employees were mistreated but I met all of them and they all are family...

Though the food was good the portions were kind of small not going to lie. Another turn off was the fact that they charged you extra for getting green sauce which normally you would get for free at most places and cilantro which makes no sense to me. It's really Petty and bad business practice I would never go back here just because of that,...
