i walk in with my husband my 2 year old son and my husbands friend for his birthday breakfast and the smell was amazing i couldn't wait to eat, as soon as we got there we were coldly greeted but i brushed it off as they seemed fairly busy, took forever for them to ask us what we wanted and when she got to us everything seemed rushed like we didn't deserve the time of day for her to listen to how i wanted my meal again i brushed it off as i thought it was just because they were busy but then more people came in and they were greeted with a smile i thought they were family but apparently just a regular customer like myself. i asked for water but she didn't even acknowledge that she had heard me and rushed off before i even finished saying "can i please have some water?" end of our meal we get the check for 19.50 and even though we got terrible service i felt the food was amazing so we left $25 in cash and that was including our tip.. we go up as soon as we were walking out she said hold on guys i have to make sure you guys paid the right amount and im like what?? okay....? so we waited im not a thief.. then she goes its 31.50 you guys only paid me 25$ and we were a bit puzzled but paid her the rest of the money she gives us about 3$ in change and we walked out... this lady follows us to the parking lot and says "EXCUSE ME ARENT YOU GUYS GOING TO TIP YOUR WAITRESS??" (which she was the waitress) and we hand her the 3 dollars she gave us. all in all it was a terrible experience, it was my first time there and i would have LOVED to eat there again if it wasn't for her terrible service and how she made us feel on our...

We've seen this little restaurant every time we drive up University, so finally decided it was time for a visit.

It was rather like a step back in time to the 50s diners. Small, homey decor and standard offerings. A "mom and pop" kind of feeling.

I saw all of the usual breakfast offerings on the menu - plus some that you don't see often, like biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash. Biscuits and gravy are always near and dear to my southern heritage. We had them every morning at my grandma's house and my mom did them fairly often. But having the "real thing" tends to make one picky. I told the waitress that I would take my chances and try the B & G. She smiled and very nicely offered to bring me a taste of the gravy before I ordered it. That was a definite point in favor of this little place. While I can't say it was like what I grew up with, it was better than most. The sausage texture was a bit odd, and the roux could have done with more browning, but it was pretty good. My eggs (ordered over medium) came out fairly brown, but the taste was okay. I tried a bit of my husbands selection of the corned beef hash and it tasted exactly like what I grew up with - sadly, my mom got it from a can. It was very salty and I couldn't have eaten much of it.

However, there were no huge negatives and the staff was very nice, making Orange Tree a solid choice for a decent breakfast at a...

This place doesn't accept any cards, cash only! It's not due to the broken machine or anything, its their policy, but you have no way of knowing it in advance until you step in and read the sign. Ok, we sat down, menu was already at the table. The waitress came and took our order. When I ordered a veggie omlett I asked for no onions. She replied : " but cheese and spinach is ok?" I replied: " sure!" When bill arrived, if I to pay by card as elsewhere, I honestly wouldn't even look at the bill, but because I had only certain amount of cash with me, I had a quick look just to realize all of the items my son & I ordered were higher amount than listed on the menu. Plus, the cheese and spinach were 0.75 extra each when the way she asked if it was still ok without implying it would be extra was a surprise too. I asked the waitress how come every item was $1-$2 higher than listed on menu ( even for a cup of tea!) The waitress simply replied that all prices recently went up due to inflation. Interesting thing that none of this was disclosed, so I think it was wrong, as business need to be transparent with their customers. Luckily I had enough cash to cover the bill and her tips, but I left feeling bad overall. The food was just OK, not good,...

Orange Tree Breakfast & Lunch New place for us and had me doing a few first. We were out west and super hungry and it was only 11 so .... for me breakfast it was. Quick Google search and I found this place. 6400 N University Dr, Tamarac, FL 33321 We pulled up and big signs.... CASH ONLY.... my first thought. Nope!!! HOWEVER. I noticed it was busy for 11 on a weekday and the crowd looked to be regulars. So I did something I would really never do. Ran to the bank šŸ¦ There were actually a few banking options very close to it was OK. Now if you are a I want my menu to have a million options diner person. Not your place. This was my kind of place though. Your home cooked grams made it in the kitchen food. Homey atmosphere. Specials on the walls. Great pricing. How i judge a restaurant for breakfast..... the grits and biscuits and gravy. Both were amazing. Found out as we were leaving our waitress Dina told me the place has been there 48 years. That her dad had owned it and she owns it now. How amazing 48 years!!!!!! Go try them out with a friend you wanna sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with and a good home cooked meal šŸ˜‹

Ugh!! first off I loveā¤ļø this place. Tucked away like a secret only locals whisper about, this breakfast joint is the definition of a hidden gem. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a CASH ONLY SIGN along with a clean, cozy old-school mom-and-pop vibe—no frills, no fuss, just genuine warmth and the smell of real food being cooked by real cooks. The breakfast? Let’s just say your grandma would approve. Fluffy eggs, crispy golden home fries, buttery toast, and bacon that actually snaps when you bite it. Everything’s made fresh, made right, and made with love. But the showstopper for me is the patty melt. Good Lord. Perfectly grilled juicy seasoned patty, melted cheese oozing just enough, and caramelized onions that taste like they’ve been slow-danced in a skillet. One bite and you're hooked—it’s mouthwatering, comforting, and borderline addictive. This place isn’t trying to be trendy it’s just being damn good, and that’s what makes it special. If you know, you know. And if you don’t? Go find out

Sat at the bar since it was too crowded for a table. They appeared to be cleaner than local places like ihop or dennys which is a huge plus. Took a few minutes to get coffee and put in an order, amongst the morning rush. I got the omelette supreme. I was not pleased with the huge chunks of raw pungent onion and the liquid cheese in the omelette. Gave it a offputting consistency. The home fries were too large so they were undercooked and way under-seasoned. Overall the restaurant is lacking a better cook šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ³ The one on shift kept complaining about it being her day off in front of the customers. The cook’s cooking reflected her lack of drive to be there.
