BJs is poor mans Costco! But its NOT! To the contrary, I cant imagine why anyone who is short on money to buy BJs membership, except may be gas perks. Sorry folks, not trying to put anyone down, but I see people making bad decisions, and hopefully I can help. At the end of day, its just an opinion. Take it with grain of salt. Good: 1. Better selection of ice creams than costco for sure. 2. They sell ice. 3. They are closer to me than costco. 4. Gas perks. 15 cents off per gallon with executive memership. The Bad: 1. So 1st off, membership pricing is about the same as Costco. 2. Everything is about 15-20% more than costco. There might be exceptions but they are slim to none. 3. Quality wise, Costco selection beats BJs hands down. 4. Service.. .Oh lord where do I begin. You can never find anyone on the floor to help you locate anything. Or to help you with hauling anything large. Take forever to return anything. And they want you to have those oversized receipts. Costco can look it up for you. Returns are a breeze at costco, but are clearly dicouraged at BJs. And you will stand in line FOREVER. Even upfront, there is nobody there to help you look up an item. 5. Please dont get me wrong here. I myself am a senior. Sooo I admire they hire older folks but none of them are tech savvy. If there is glitch during return, you might as well forget it. They check every freaking item in your cart at the exit, and like to chat you up while there is 10-15 people line bulding up right behind. They dont care. They are sweet, but thats not why I am there. Last time I was there, the checker at the exit could not figue out why the alarm was beeping. Kept checking shoes whereas an bluetooth speaker right there had the security tag. And I had to point that out. Sorry BJs management, please hire slightly competent folks. 6. My pet peeve. They charge tax on PRE DISCOUNTED prices. Pl. see the attached pic. WHYYYY? Its a club. I am already paying you yearly membership. And to turn around and charge me extra to just send it over to the state... That too on MSRP or blatantly inflated prices. Literally everything is on sale or marked down in BJs. Sometimes 80% off. So if $100 item is marked down to 20, you will not pay approx $22, you will pay $28. BTW costco doesnt do this shit. Costco has its parking lot full from the moment it opens to close. BJs, there would be 10 people in the whole club at any given time. Yes some folks go to BJs to avoid crowds. But is that really I want to go to a membership club. I am looking for value. @Management, does it not bother you? Having a 30000sqft facility with absolute bare minimum sales. Please hire me, and I will turn this place around!!!! In the mean time, I will just stop by for ice cream or gas when I am out. Thats it.

Stood in customer service line for over 30min. The employee saw the line getting longer and longer and didn't even try to call for any help. After waiting for over 30 min finally someone came to help but the line still barely moved. Employees walked past constantly and no one tried to help at all. There was 1 specific employee that was texting on her phone and just walking around. It was very bad on their part for regular customers but especially a new customer like myself.

One of the reasons I got the membership in BJs for years was because of the quality of the bakery. Lately the guava bites pastries, heart palmers, among others don’t taste right, it seems they use regular flour instead of puff pastry for the guava pastry and the palmers are hard to bite, not crunchy (maybe not fresh). After many tries buying hoping for a better quality I am giving up. I think I will no longer get the bakery from BJs. Sadly

I always come here every weekend on to do my groceries. Now I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I was completely shocked by the way my family was treated here. There was an older man working a sample stand that was giving coffee, my daughters wanted to try it however he said “ They are not ready yet, I just put these in the cooler” and as we walked away we saw him give other people the coffees that supposedly weren’t ready yet. This was less than 30 seconds of us walking away. We waited 5 minutes until they were “ready”, we came back and the man told my teenage daughters ( they were 18 and 16) again that they were not ready and they couldn’t have them because you need to he 21 and older… 21 and older for coffee? There was these 3 white girls they did not look/ act older than my daughters, and he instantly gave them their little cup of coffee. Now I did not say anything to man out of respect but I felt extremely discriminated and disappointed, when this happened. I am not positive of his name but I think it was Chris M. and he was working the Monster Coffee station ( April 15 noonish) After feeling completely discriminated, we went to check out our groceries and I guess the conveyor belt wasn’t working so we called assistance, the lady said “ The machine stops working after suspicious activity” now I have never heard of that before, but we literally only scanned one item and it froze. After she fixes our machine she proceeds to scan all our groceries at the self checkout lane? She kept telling us how the machines are smart enough to see if people are stealing. I don’t know if she was accusing us of stealing but I found it out of hand she decides to scan all our items after claiming were had suspicious activity. I love shopping here but not the service, most of the employees were white elders that were...

Prices are fair - no huge bargains, just the advantage of buying in bulk so you don't have to run back to the store in another week. Produce section is awful - we purchased pre-packaged corn-on-the cob and when we opened the package it was covered in mold under the parts of the label you couldn't see through (same day we purchased the corn!). Have purchased salad or kale mixes whose use by dates were still many days out, but the greens were wilted, soggy and even rotten. Watch expiration dates on EVERYTHING...they sold a huge sack of cheese sticks and when I got home I realized they were going to expire in a couple of days...no family can eat 48 string cheese sticks in two days hahaha! And, am totally annoyed at the 'vendors' who they allow to set up and hassle you while you shop. We actually invited one of the vendors to give us a quote on new windows and doors for our home as we are on the market...figured BJS must have vetted the company or they wouldn't allow them in the store. Well, it was high-pressure typical sales type marketing - they would not come to the house unless both spouses were home and they don't tell you that until day before they come - I kept the day open for the appointment and they cancelled!! (I make all the decisions - my husband doesn't want to be bothered), they won't give a quote until you verbally agree to contract with them, quotes are only good same day, etc. So, typical sales tactics that aren't what a reputable business would use....just surprised BJs would expose their customers to that experience. Otherwise, staff at the store are fine, it's always clean, fair prices...but produce and the pesky outside vendors who hassle you while you shop are a...
