Just ordered a kids meal curry chicken with rice and beans from this restaurant with a pineapple soda . First she gave me the soda and said it wasn’t cold . Ok whatever . Next thing I noticed was how hot my food was and I got very excited thinking I just really got some fresh food . Couple minutes later I noticed that oil was leaking from bottom which is usually a sign that something have been microwaved. I moved the rice around and looked at the bottom of the plate and it was all burned just like when you put any plastic container in a microwave. I called and ask the lady if the food was microwave she said yes . I asked her if everything is usually microwaved she said I’ll let you speak to the manager. Spoke to the manager she asked what I ordered and I told her . She said yes once they put the food in the plate they usually microwave it for 15 sec . I asked her how long ago was the food cooked because I’m currently pregnant and don’t want to get food poisoning, she said today . I said how long ago is today she said 2 hours ago and it’s kept in a warmer. If it’s kept in a warmer isn’t the warmer supposed to keep it at a minimum temperature of 140 ? Why is there a need to reheat in a microwave before serving to every guest . I’m a 100% born grown raised Jamaican and there’s no way this food was cooked 2 hours ago . Please check y’all plates for microwave burns once received to make sure that the same thing don’t happened to y’all . This is the first Jamaican restaurant I’ve ever seem reheat food in microwave before serving ....
Read moreWhen I moved to the area I was so excited to have a Caribbean restaurant so close to me, with a drive thru and tried to make it my business to eat there at least 3 times a month but that has quickly changed.I know how expensive meats are and don't mind paying for good food but for the prices charged, the portions are wayyyyyyy to small. There are times I've been charged for a side of plantains but get home and none in the bag. This has happened at least 3 times. The last time I made sure I checked the bag before pulling off and after another 5 mins of trying to get the cashier's attention, the guy finally came to the window, laughed and said "oh we didnt think you would notice it was missing".I couldn't believe it. Other times, they tell you they accept debit card by phone but when you arrive with your card, they tell u they are only accepting cash.Never any apologies for the inconvenience. They never have everything on the menu. They will have patties with no bread or vice versa. Its always something.Decent tasting good, great idea to have a Caribbean drive thru restaurant and the physical location is great but they really have to work on the mechanics of running a proper business & will not get any more of my hard earned money,...
Read moreLet’s get the good part of my visit out of the way, right from the beginning. I love the jerk pork from Jerk Hut. It’s perfectly smoked, crusted with the right amount of spices, juicy, tender and savory. Every piece of meat still has the skin and fat attached and it’s all perfectly chewy and succulent and amazing.
The sweet and spicy red sauce perfectly complements the savory pork. There’s enough spice on the pork to evoke a sheen of sweat on my upper lip. Throw on the red sauce and the rest of my face sweats as well. I will drive well out of my way and pay more than I want to for their jerk pork, it’s that good.
The sides, steamed cabbage and rice and beans, unfortunately tasted like they were made the day before. They’re acceptable, just stale.
Also just fine, the spicy beef patty and jerk chicken patty. Sitting around all day let in some moisture and the crust is no longer crispy. They’re still flavorful and they have a...
