One Stop Jerk Center Jamaican — Restaurant in Tampa

Visiting Tampa and wanted some good Jamaican food. Called another spot after seeing reviews but no one picked up. So I tried calling here. Person who answered was very kind. Food was prepared quickly. Lady was kind as well in person which I definitely appreciated . Two teenagers in kitchen as well. Food looked good. But once I actually tasted it when I got back to my hotel, it was quite bad. I ordered 3 meals...oxtail for me and jerk chicken and brown stew for my kids.The meats were passable but the rice was parboiled rice that was overcooked with a sprinkle of red kidney beans...was soppy and way too salty! Definitely not Jamaican rice and peas. We got sides of macaroni and cheese because there was no more plantains and though I knew mac and cheese is not Jamaican cuisine , I was hungry. It tasted like it came from the box. Obviously I could've cooked my own oxtail and rice and peas as I'm Jamaican and can actually cook, but since I was visiting from out of town, I had to eat out but I was left very disappointed, out $30+( also bought soft drinks), and me and fam were still hungry as we couldn't continue eating this. Omg!!! Why did I not come here sooner??? I’ve been wanting to try One stop for a long time but they close early, and I live in Thonotosassa, so I could never catch them, but I FINALLY DID, and I’ve been missing out!!! I tried the oxtails, rice and peas, yams, greens, and mac n cheese. When I say EVERYTHING was good, that’s a rare occurrence. I’m very picky about my oxtails, and they had mixed reviews. They were flavorful and sooo tender. The Mac n cheese was really good, cheesy, and not wet. I don’t eat everyone’s Mac n chs. The yams were nice and sweet, and the greens, bussin!!! That means good😊. I must warn you though, the greens are SPICY. If you can’t handle spice, don’t order greens. Nothing disappointed. The spot looks like a old hole in the wall and kind of dark, but that’s where you find the best food, and the gentleman was very nice. I’m so disappointment I called to make sure my order was right I spoke with a young lady she told me everything would be perfect. I ordered the oxtails, cabbage , & rice an peas with NO gravy on the rice With a passion fruit drink honestly , the drink was better than the food that’s why I gave them 2 stars!!!
