Pupuseria Centroamericana — Restaurant in Tampa

Food is not horrible but it’s not great either, the reason for the 2 stars is because of the service and hospitality. Went there with my Hubby and put in an order to go it was 54$ for us both. When I asked to take a hot sauce bottle to eat outside because we have a puppy with us, the waiter went to the kitchen and came back with two one once hot sauces, we ordered a lot of food and two of those could barely cover for one pupusa, I asked for two more and she was charging a dollar for every two more. How stingy, giving we just ordered all that food… We just wanted to use the hot sauce bottle while there, we weren’t trying to steal it lol when we checked our bag with the food, there was also no napkins. The cafe con leche just tasted like leche (milk) I would have loved to liked this place since I am half Costa Rican and I was super excited to eat Gallo Pinto, but I am a bit disappointed, mostly with the treatment. But, if I had to criticize the food I’d say it was lacking salt, flavor, and it was kind of dry.

Next time a little generosity could get you a long way getting you loyal, lifetime customers vs bad google reviews.

Been here a few times and really like it. I was a bit annoyed with my most recent visit, however. I asked if I could get rice and beans instead of the salad with the tacos dorados. The waitress informed me that yes I can but the beans are re-fried. That was fine by me. When I went to pay the bill, it came to my attention that I was charged $6 on a $10 dish for the substitution. She never informed me of it when I was ordering. To be clear, I speak Spanish. I ordered in Spanish. I asked questions about the food in Spanish. So this wasn't a misunderstanding, she never informed me of the egregious 6 dollar charge for RICE AND BEANS. Rice and beans are cheaper than vegetables and salads; this is completely unjustifiable. My entree cost went from $10 to $16 over rice and beans? Unbelievable. At the end of the day it's $6, but the principle of the matter...

The food is great. Its a taste of home, but the service is terrible. The waitress act like they don't even want you to be there. They're cold. But the reason that made me make this review is that they scam you. They overcharge you and show you a bill that is just scribbles of writing. You think you're going to pay X amount, but its more. I've been here 3-4 times, and every time I'm wondering why its more. But reading older reviews makes sense. Its unfortunate that people that you would rely on, let you down. Unfortunately I doubt that they will change their business practice. One time I ordered a drink, and the waitress said ok. Gave me the wrong drink, and when I asked they said "oh we don't have that, only on the weekends". Why didn't you just say that in the...
