Wrights Gourmet House has been open since April 20, 1963. They hired a German baker to create a special dough for them. The dough is in a circular shape, and they call it âBucket Breadâ. They still use this bread selling hundreds of sandwiches every day. Monday to Friday, they are open from 10 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday the hours are 10 am to 4pm, and they are closed Sunday and any major holidays. When deciding what we wanted to get for lunch, and I really was craving a sandwich. Usually when we go, the line is very long, but it moves fast. This time when we went there was only one person in front of us which filled us with joy because we were starving. The women working at the register could not have been more pleasant. We went up to order and I got the âTurkey Clubâ sandwich. I usually get it the way it comes but this time I asked them to toast the bread. We ordered two drinks, two bags of kettle cooked salt and vinegar chips, and coleslaw. Their POS system looks like it was the exact same from 50 years ago! But at the same time, super up to date because you receive a text for when your order is ready. They have freshly made iced teas like sweet tea, unsweet tea, mango tea etc. I went with a classic for me, an Arnold Palmer. They even have fresh mint and lemons to add to the tea. It is so unbelievably good. When you turn the corner there has to be at least 20 booths, 10 two person tables, and then they have a back room with much larger tables for bigger parties. But the place was full! We were definitely lucky to find a seat. You know a restaurant is going to be good when its full. Ten minutes go by, and we have already finished one bag of chips while waiting. The next sound we hear is the ping from the phone and our food is ready. The tray of food looked amazing. I grab my sandwich off the tray and immediately grab one section as if I have never seen food before. The bread was warm, and the ratio of the turkey, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and bacon was absolutely perfect, I could taste how fresh everything was. The turkey meat was shaved super thin (which I love), the tomato slices were so fresh and thin as well, the Swiss cheese was a little thicker than the average slice of cheese, but this was necessary because of how large the sandwich was. It was a triple decker meaning 3 slices of bread. I go in for the first bite. My taste buds go crazy. The sandwich flavors are amazing. I could taste everything inside separately; the flavor was like heaven on earth. The bread was warm but the goods inside were cold, it honestly was the most perfect turkey club I have ever had in the Tampa Bay area. I was only able to finish half the sandwich as it is huge! It was now time for the coleslaw. It was okâŠ. It had an acquired taste of what I thought was cinnamon. I would not get the coleslaw again especially for the price. I packaged up my other half of the sandwich and we headed out. I would recommend Wright's Gourmet Deli to my worst enemy! I truly believe everyone, and anyone should try Wrightâs deli at some point. Whether you are looking for a cold deli sandwich or just a tasty treat, Wright's Gourmet says, âWeâre only as good as our...
Read moreWrightâs Gourmet has long been a go-to lunch spot in Tampa, and with good reasonâitâs a place that blends consistency, quality, and charm in every bite. One of the standout items is their unique take on the Monte Cristo: a double-decker sandwich served grilled on pumpernickel bread with ham, Genoa salami, turkey breast, German dill pickle slices, and Jarlsberg cheese, all brought together with a house-made mustard sauce. Itâs bold, flavorful, and completely unforgettable. The family-friendly atmosphere is just as impressive, with a great kids menu that includes a surprisingly standout PB&J that keeps even the pickiest eaters happy.
But lunch at Wrightâs wouldnât be complete without something sweet. Their cakes and cupcakes are all amazing, with the Lemon and Rum cakes standing out as absolute must-triesâmoist, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. To top it all off, their orange spice unsweet iced tea with a sprig of mint is the perfect complement to any mealârefreshing, aromatic, and just the right twist on a classic.    Read moreWent for the first time, on a lunch for my birthday and had the most amazing sandwich ever! Iâm not a big sandwich gal but Iâd heard they have the best lemon Bundt cake, so my interest peaked. Iâd stepped inside and was met with plethora of different cakes, cupcakes and desserts. Iâd gotten a specialty cake, it was a soft yellow cake with a filling that had to have been strawberry or raspberry, along with a pink strawberry icing with just enough sweetness while having a nice creamy texture to it. Iâd also gotten a sugar cookieâŠand let me tell you, that cookie was perfect. Nice soft inside with sprinkles of sugar on top, with a juuusst right crunch to the outer ends. It didnât just fall apart like most cookies do. The texture and bake of this cookie was 10/10. Finally Iâd had the âTurkey martiniâ on Cuban with provoloneâŠpressed. The young lady at the front taking my order helped me decide one what to get and boy am i grateful for her suggestion. One word...Phenomenal. Sliced turkey breast, sautĂ©ed mushrooms with a nice big crisp slice of bacon, provolone cheese and garlic with herb spread on Cuban bread, pressed. What a juicy sandwich. Each bite was so packed with flavor, my taste buds were in euphoria, it was so hard to put the sandwich down! My overall experience at Wrights Gourmet was a 20/10. I canât wait...
