Yoko's Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Tampa

As regular’s at the yoko’s establishment, we were appalled at the behavior we received tonight. We checked in as a party of 4, the hostess Isabella let us know the wait was about an hour long. We told her we would wait at the bar until our table was ready. About 30 minutes goes by and we notice half the restaurant has emptied out. We approached Isabella again and asked her what our awaited wait time was now. She communicated to us that she had taken our name off the wait list because we had sat at the bar. We communicated once again, that we were just waiting at the bar for our table to be ready, and she told us she put us back on the list and we should still get a table at the time she originally promised. Another 45 minutes go by. We have been waiting for a table at almost and hour and a half at this point. We go back to Isabella to ask for an update and she says she never put us back on the wait list. We asked to speak to a manager. After waiting some more, we were told the manager was not at the restaurant. On a Saturday night. I've been here a couple of times, and the sushi is very fresh and the rolls are built well. This evening we went in for dinner and were the first and only ones in line to be seated, with just a party of two. Shortly after we walked in and they were preparing a table for us, a family of five walks in and the hostess was directed to "seat them first." My party moves over to let them by and they are seated immediately. They then sat us at a different table than they were originally preparing, at a 4-top in the front of the restaurant. As soon as we sit down and begin looking at our one menu that we were given, she asked if she could move us to a table in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. We moved and waited several minutes for someone to come by and take our drink order but nobody came. We then left the restaurant.

I am only writing this review because the experience left me feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and not welcome. I can understand seating a larger table first if they had a seating issue they needed to work out, but having us move after putting someone ahead of us did not sit well with me. I will...

Ok so, The ONLY reason it didn't get five stars was the seating is cramped kinda. But the restaurant is very cozy and nice. It's cool clean. The wait staff is very friendly and nice. They were sooo busy but still didn't keep us waiting Long, and Never anything but happy and smiling. The sushi 🍣 was THE BEST SUSHI I'VE EVER EATEN!!! I mean,it was heaven in my mouth on sushi form people!!! Everything was super fresh and they Make it in front of you which I like, because I'm a weirdo about my food, lol. Not much of a drink selection, but it's a restaurant, not a bar, so it's fine. Overall I love that place and, you can get take out if you don't want to sit down to eat. I will definitely be going back. If you haven't been, you definitely should try it. if you want to make a reservation, I suggest doing it a day in advance if you plan to go Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Those are the busiest nights.
