Zeal Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Tampa

Been wanting to visit this spot for some time but the hours of operation make it difficult. Today I finally made it in and ordered a Cuban and a shot of espresso.

I will say that it was easily the best espresso that I’ve had in Tampa that I have not hand made myself. The sad truth is, most places make coffee for people that hate coffee. Seriously. Try drinking a simple shot of espresso from Starbucks without all the milk and syrup gobbledegook. It’s disgusting. The shot I had at the Lab was bold, full bodied and sweet. The kind of shot that leaves you disappointed that it’s gone when you’ve finished it.

I recognized the guy who made the shot as the owner of the shop from the website. He had two separate beans in his hoppers and offered me a choice, which I was very pleasantly surprised by.

I didn’t really visit for the food and I don’t really care much about their sandwiches, but I don’t mind adding as a side note that the Cuban I ordered happened to be very good as well.

I am looking forward to brewing my new bag of Zeal and exploring more of their selections...

Best coffee in the county no competition. The quality is phenomenal because they roast there owns beans without overroasting like so many other Brewers. This keeps the unique taste of the beans in every sip of coffee. I've never enjoyed drinking just straight black coffee before but Zeal somehow manages to accomplish this easily. The people behind the counter are wonderful, friendly, and great to chat with. Cool people and chill atmosphere that I really enjoy. Now all there coffee is great nothing is overroasted, so an espresso shot doesn't taste like Starbucks. Their cappuccino is the **in jam!

Something interesting to note here but maybe it's just me, whenever I drink their coffee I never crash. Regardless of how much I may drink.

Last, my only concern about this place is I hope they work on extending their hours more because 3pm is too early to close. Also, I hope they do not change locations again because they do not make it easy to find Zeal. That's just something has nothing to do with the rating thou.

We love local coffee roasters and are constantly on the lookout for new ones to try. Zeal Coffee Roasters and Coffee Labs are kind of off the beaten path but they are worth finding. They have a very unique roast and only roast small batches so everything is extremely fresh. Unknowningly we showed up right at closing time but that was not a problem and we were welcome and served with a smile. We were very impressed with the wonderful chocolatety flavor of their espresso.
