Pika's Cafe — Restaurant in Tamuning Municipality

Had lunch with the wife here today. We arrived about 15 minutes before their breakfast menu ended. We wanted to order the French toast. The person who seated us said our server will be with us shortly but it didn't happen. We flagged down the guy who seated us and asked if we can place an order for the French toast before their breakfast menu ends which was at 1130. He said he'll check. At the same time, we placed our drink order. One Pepsi and one coffee. A few minutes later he comes back out with our drinks and tells us the their kitchen is backed up and won't be able to accommodate the order. So we ask for a few more minutes to look at the menu. While looking at the menu, we sample our drinks. Coffee was not hot at all and the Pepsi was flat. Shortly afterwards, our actual server comes out and asks if we are ready to order. We inform her about the problem with our drinks and explain to her we wanted to order the French toast before the breakfast menu ended and but nobody checked on us. So she says she'll check the kitchen and get us new drinks. She comes back and tells us that they're out and can't make it anymore. Completely different excuse from the first server. Anyway, I get a new glass of Pepsi and she tells us they're brewing a new pot of coffee. So we decided to just order something else which was the pork belly with rice and the Loco moco. The Pepsi was still flat so I inquire with another employee about the Pepsi and she tells me that's just how it is. Really? I've had fountain sodas in the past at other establishments and if it is flat they usually adjust the syrup and carbonation. These guys didn't do any of that and said that's just how it is. But anyway, On to the food. Both dishes tasted good but the rice in the pork belly dish was really mushy. Overall, the food is decent but service could use some improvement. My trip was ruined at this restaurant. When I came into the restaurant, the host asked me to wait and she wrote down my name and the amount of people in my party. I waited for 20 minutes even though it was clearly visible that there were tables available. As soon as I asked her whether those empty tables were reserved, she led us over to one of those tables as if we hadn’t been waiting for one for the past 20 min. They didn’t care about keeping customers waiting. Also I ordered "rocomoco" and my server asked me if I need any spicy source and I requested it and when I noticed it was taking way too long for it to be brought to me, I ended up having to ask another server for it and eventually got it.The food had gotten cold so we weren’t even able to enjoy the food. In addition, when I asked for my check (since I noticed other customers had been asking and having their checks brought over to them), I naturally also asked for my check and waited and it never came. I ended up having to go to the cashier and paying there. To top it all off, after paying, I realized the cashier didn’t give me back my change and didn’t even say anything to me about it.

Very busy place during lunch. If you don't like waiting for 30-45 mins. Then the best times to go would be by 11am or after 2pm. I rate it 2 stars because even after a long wait, it took awhile for a server to tend to us seeing that there were 6-8 servers in attendance. We already had what we planned to eat by that time and ordered our drinks and entrees. It took almost 20mins for our order to come out. i know this is accurate because i watched two 10min videos in youtube. I ordered the loco moco as how it looks in the picture. Server did her job without needing to take notes which is good. I would have preferred her to take note on how we would like our patties on the loco moco. The patties was dry and even my brother who ordered the same dish was dry too. Not enough gravy and the rice was just a scoop and a half. Not a big portion for someone with a big build. I understand for asians to have this portion. It Wasn't too filling for us. Bob Marley iced tea is great. You should try it.
