Shirley's Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamuning Municipality

I can see why this restaurant is popular! Huge menu, large portions, reasonable prices. The menu is half American diner fare (burgers, pancakes) and half Asian dishes (yakisoba, chop suey). The space is huge and the tables aren't crowded at all. Service was VERY fast and multiple staff came by our table to make sure we were taken care of.

My only disappointment was my own fault — I was excited about getting a tofu scramble, but I made the wrong assumption about what that meant. In other places, the tofu is scrambled in place of egg with vegetables mixed in. In this case, tofu was mixed in with scrambled egg and the only other ingredient was green onion. So vegans beware! I'm sure they CAN replace eggs with tofu for a vegetable scramble, but I declined to ask and that is not...

The food was so-so during our most recent visit. The servers were (mildly putting it) all over the grid. More to the point, our server made several blunders or completely "forgot" about things we ordered and then pointed blame on the kitchen staff. However, when I saw the plate he brought out to our table, I noticed the fried chicken was overcooked due to the chef having to warm it up one or more times before.the server picked it up. They overcharged us because the server indicated that we ordered something that was never mentioned, let alone order by our table. I'm happy to report that Shirleys was an absolutely fantastic breakfast joint. After our last few run ins with some of the awful breakfast spots that are popular on this island, I have to admit expectations were LOW. But after entering Shirleys, observing the very attentive waiters and the cleanliness of the restaurant hopes were high. I ordered a fairly common and easy breakfast, ham and cheese omelet, which I swear there was about 2 pounds worth of ham inside it stunning. The pancakes came out of the kitchen steaming hot as they should be and were perfect if I may say so.
