I just wanted to share my recent experience at a restaurant. We wanted to make the most of the last few days of summer break by taking the kids out for breakfast before starting our day. The service was fast, the kids' plates looked cute, and our server was kind and understanding. We were referred to this restaurant by a family member, which was a positive aspect. However, I have some concerns about the cleanliness of the establishment. When we sat down, I had to ask my children to clean the seat cushions as they were covered in food and dog hair. I ordered two iced teas for my children, both of whom have autism and are sensitive to noise and cannot speak up for themselves. When I placed the order, I made sure to request brewed tea, not from a fountain. The server checked in to verify the type of tea, but she corrected the mistake promptly, which was great. Unfortunately, my plate had hair in the food, which has happened to me at several other restaurants as well. I sent the plate back, as this is important to me in assessing the cleanliness of the kitchen. The server re-plated my food and brought it back, which I wasn't comfortable with, so I sent it back again. When I asked for the bill, it wasn't itemized, and I had to wait for the server to manually write one for me. The server mentioned giving me a 10% discount for the errors, but the gross receipt tax is 9%, so the discount offered wasn't really beneficial. Overall, I had some concerns about the cleanliness and attention to detail at the restaurant, and I wanted to note my experience for future reference. Read moreSaw a brief online review that mentioned Ricky's as having good food, and after eating there, I certainly agree. Since there was only one of me, I didn't sample a wide variety of breakfast options. When I travel in the southwest, huevos rancheros is my 'test standard'. If it's on the menu and it's mediocre, chances are everything else will be too. Ricky's set the bar here. Beans on the bottom, potatoes on the side, the right amount of cheese, corn tortillas, perfect eggs, and amazing red sauce (salsa roja) on top. This is a working person's cafe - no frills, nothing fancy, sports memorabilia (Ricky is a Broncos fan), specials on a board, lunch menu hand-written on another one. Plastic tablecloths. Locals 'own' the table closest to the kitchen. Locals say hello when you come in. Service is friendly, good, and the prices are real. After a week on the road in the Four Corners, this was by far my favorite meal. I'll be back any time...
Read moreI ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a beef, bean and cheese burrito at 3 in the afternoon (not dinner hours). We were traveling through town and eating them on the road so I requested that they were both wrapped for holding in hand (not wet). I saw the menu showed prices around 5-7 dollars for them. The man took my order and I handed him a $20 bill(without looking at the charge).. 10 minutes later I received 2 small burritos and only $1.65 back which I reflexively gave to him as a tip. I was puzzling over the price and the size of the burritos but thought the beef burrito must have been the expensive one. We ate them, they weren’t bad but the beans didn’t have much flavor, which was the majority of the filling. My dads beef, bean and cheese burrito was missing the beef😕 ....so two small, bland bean and cheese burritos for almost twenty dollars. I wish we had gone...
