A Different kind of place in a good way
My visit was on a Thursday Morning at 8:30. I was greeted at the door which was held open for me by an exiting patron. I was given a choice of seating and asked if I would like coffee. It was pointed out that, along with the menu. That there are specials on a laminated card sitting on top of itsâ home, a round black wire condiment caddy. My waitress brought water along with my coffee. After perusing the colorful menu I selected a Western Omelet Breakfast Special.
My omelet was a good size probably a three egg. It was cooked on a flat top grill evidenced by itsâ shape. The green peppers and onions were plentiful and it included cheese. That makes me smile. Everything is better with cheese. The fried potatoes were cut into slices rather then shredded. They were nice and evenly browned and crisp on the edges. No visible grease on them. I usually select grits vs. potatoes, which is an option here, but was a bit hungry this morning. The coffee was pretty good. Better than most not the least bit bitter. Wheat toast was evenly browned and lightly buttered.

Read moreThis restaurant is not safe for adults and children with food allergies. If you go here, warn your waitress that you have a food allergy and then order something she assures you is safe, you or your child might have a life threatening allergic reaction because it is now clear that the staff doesn't even know what they are selling. And then when you tell the restaurant staff about the reaction, they will blame you. People who have food allergies are not at fault for what they suffer from any more than a person in a wheel chair. Would this restaurant also blame a handicapped person who had a problem in their restaurant and tell them they should stay home? I encourage anyone who believes restaurants have a responsibility to care about people and know what they are actually serving people to stay away from this business. It's one thing to accidentally have a miscommunication about food service even if it's due to poor training. It's another to not take accountability for it and to blame your patrons. What a disgusting, reprehensible attitude. Wake up: Food allergies are on the rise. If you sell food, you have to be more responsible than this. Horrible, shocking attitudes, I don't care how good your food is. You...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at the Flamingo and it was worth it. Having driven by it for years, a chance day off with my wife, lured us in. We first went to the Sunrise Coney Island, but they were cash only. As this is the 21st Century, cash only places don't get my business. We drove past the Senate Coney Island, but at 9:30 in the morning, there wasn't a single car in the parking lot. Onto the Flamingo! The restaurant is clean, decorated in an upbeat style. The server was great and attentive. The menu is large, prompting a return visit in the future to try their lunch or dinner options. We decided to have breakfast. My ham and cheese omelet was cooked perfectly and the hash browns are excellent. They are made up of thinly sliced potatoes. The rye bread was really outstanding. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside it was toasted perfectly. If you are in the area and hungry, give the Flamingo a chance. Their food is delicious and the wait staff...
