Senate Coney Island Restaurant — Restaurant in Taylor

I have been a customer for the better part of 5 yrs, it used to be really nice inside but over the years it has not been maintained very well in my opinion & its looking a bit runned down now but thatsnot the reason i gave them 1star & will not be returning. On 2 seperate occasions the waitress staff have used profanity & talked about vulgar things in front of my kids, i brushed it off because I know gd help is hard to find sometimes but today was the last straw, i went online & looked at the menu to try somethingnew for breakfast for me & the kids i called up to order my food &the waitress told me that there would be an extra charge because it is now noon but then she retracted her statement & sais she would honor the menu price. once i completed my order she changed her mind again & said she was going tocharge me the upcharge. I drove all the way to the coney to pick up my order then as i went to pay i noticed the price had changed a 3rd time, now im asking why & the older lady that sits @ the front door register gets loud as soon as i say "excuse me miss, i have a question regarding my bill" her initial response was icant answer your question i didnt take your order loudly then sheyells out over the hole store and says loudly who took this guys order? come here! the waitress comes over i ask if she could explain my bill & she immediately says yeah well i told you i was charging because its noon & i said "yes, i rememberyou honoring the menu price & then changing it but now there isanother 3 aadditional charges so she just smerks & walks away. Now the older lady who yells acrossthe restaurant decides to start talking down to me & days it is noon that i should know there is a upcharge & i said well i do now but i didnt. Then i saod your online menu says all day breakfast & nothing of an upcharge she began to get louder still and said "i dont care what you have to show me ill show you a physical menu. I then saidok but your advertising online something different. she said she dont care so i said ok mistakes happen to myself lets see the physical menu, as i looked at it there was no differences and i pointed out it doesn't say anywhere there is an upcharge starting at noo. Keep in mind its not the few dollar difference its the story changing, yelling across the place, talking down to a customer that made me say anything at this point. So i simply say "no thx" set the food down & bam all the sudden this old ladyis throwing her hands around and saying "thats not right! you dont order & not pay!!" now im really frustrated bit instead of losing my cool i say "miss you are being very unprofessional & if i order food at a set price & you guys keep changing it while your yelling & talking down to a customer i think most would agree, dont buy the food & leaave" she starts cursing and storms off cursing & goes to the staff by the kitchen so i just said to myself it isnt worth it & walked out i wasn't waiting for another staff member come & try to curse & talk down to me. So all i have to say is that they officially lost a 5yr customer & i hope anyone going there decides after they see this to try somewhere else or at the very least pay attention to your...

We stopped at Senate Coney Island today because it's the place we go when we are down river. We do not live in the area, so it's basically a treat for us. The food was as good as its always been. However, the service was TERRIBLE!!! Our waitress pretty much brought us our food, and dissapeared. She never came to check on us to see if we needed anything. When we finished we sat for 15 minutes waiting while she counted her tips, watched TV, and played on her phone. I finally got up, went to the counter by the kitchen, and got my own carry out boxes. After boxing up our food, and cleaning our table up. Our waitress finally brought us our bill. I have NEVER not left a tip at a restaurant in my life! Today was the first time I did not tip my server. It's bad enough to have a server that ignores their customers, but it's even worse when the other server's there don't come by and check on you, or get your server for you. I've been going to the Senate since before they moved to the larger restraurant. Obviously, if that's the place where we always choose to go when we are down here. I'm VERY disappointed to come here, and have a horrible experience. Unfortunately, having such great memories of what the Senate was like. I have always recommended it to other's that go down to the area. Now, I wonder if that is a mistake to tell people to go there, and eat. PLEASE ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH YOUR WAIT STAFF. No matter how good your food is, if the service is bad it's not worth the time visiting. Normally I leave a 20-30% tip because I've been a server, and I know how important tips are. If I could give it a negative stars I would. We decided to go in for lunch , the sign said to seat ourselves so we did looked at a few booths and everyone we looked at were dirty so we decided to pick the least dirty and asked for napkins to wipe table down . The waitress never even offered to clean it .. she brought us our drinks then took our order, I had a salad with a lunch special. I had to ask her after waiting thirty min to please bring my salad before the rest of my food came out. Not to mention she was not very nice at all whenever you asked her for something . She would have rather stand and talk with the other waitresses while they looked at a whole counter full of good that had been sitting for at least 6 minutes while they talked over it and reached over it. When we finally received our food my husband's omelette was have cooked and had old sausage inside, my daughter's food looked like a child made it and the one egg and two pieces of bacon couldn't have even fed a small child around one ( mine is six) they don't have toast included you'd have to order it separate. My BLT was completely nasty I'm almost positive the Mayo was expired. I couldn't even eat it. When it was all done our food was gross and cold. I'll never ever return and I have already made a phone call to health department. Eat their at your own risk, all the women there where unfriendly mostly the older heavy set woman doing the carry out she seemed to be the manager over the girls and was screaming the entire time, she was never smiling or being encouraging to these waitresses.
