Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar — Restaurant in Taylor

I am a natural fan of Hook and Reel Taylor and I have shared really great reviews with friends and family but my most reason visit which happened to be on my BIRTHDAY (because the food here is amazing) happened to be the worst experience I’ve ever encountered with any restaurant. The manager whose name starts with a T and ends with a Y quoted me an hour wait for a party of 10 people which ended up being on 8 people got upset and very nasty with me. She first quoted an hour and when the hour was up she said “well you’ve only waited an hour and 15 min, so I don’t understand why you’re upset, now I could see if it was going closer to two hours then I would understand” I let her know it was my birthday and had I known the wait would exceed the hour I would’ve made other arrangements to eat elsewhere. She then told “well now that the hour is up I don’t have an estimate for you, you’re just going to have to wait it out.” Finally an hour and a half later my party is seated and of course she separated us into two tables knowing the tables for large parties were available, so not only did I spend almost two hours of my birthday in your parking lot she sat us 45 min to closing time and then separated us. I also let her know I had a cake and she said she wasn’t allowed to refrigerate it but I could have it at my table. Once dinner was finished I asked the server if it was possible to get plates because I wanted to cut my cake. The server came back and said her manager who happened to be “Manager T” of course said it’s close time soo NO I CANNOT cut my cake. The server was excellent and made my experience somewhat ok but overall service was terrible all at the managers expense. I literally had to cut my cake on top of my car in the parking lot because she wasn’t very accommodating. Long post 📢 ⚠️....My experience this evening was amazing, let me tell you why. I visited this establishment about a month ago with my really good friend and her daughter. We were so excited about trying this place bc one of our other friends had visited at least 4x within a week. Well, our experience wasn't as good, we were very disappointed. Everything from service, communication, and food was just terrible that day. However, the manager Jenet (sorry if I spelled that wrong) came over and was very apologetic and understanding. She not only took care of our bill that evening, but wanted us to give them another try and promised next time would be better, And indeed it was. I went back tonight with my husband and had a great experience, from the time we walked in til we left. The place clean, things were being sanitized, social distancing was in place, 😷. Now the food, All of our food was Amazing, we had 🦀 balls, crabmeat fries, and garlic butter oysters with a side of hook spicy sauce 😋 😋 😋...our meals were the small/mini boil..I had 🦀 cluster and headless 🦐 added noodles and my sauce was the garlic butter with a side of spicy hook sauce(that way I could add to it as I saw fit) My husband had the same, but with sausage instead of crab legs. That food was soooo good and fresh 😋 I couldn't stop eating even though I was full 🤣. Our waitress (Jessalyn) was great too!! Sorry for thee long post but I had to let you guys know that although my initial visit was unpleasant, this visit definitely made up for it. I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hook and Reel, I am from out of town, and I must say that my experience was greatly enhanced by the exceptional service provided by Jennifer, the bartender. From the moment I sat down at the bar, her warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home.

Jennifer's knowledge of the drink menu was impressive. She took the time to recommend a few signature cocktails based on my preferences, and I ended up trying the "Cajun candy," which was a delightful blend of flavors. It was evident that she takes pride in her craft, as each drink was expertly mixed and beautifully presented.

What stood out the most was Jennifer's attentiveness. Despite the bar being busy, she made sure to check in on me regularly, ensuring that my glass was never empty and that I was enjoying my experience. Her friendly conversation and genuine interest in her customers created a lively atmosphere that made the evening even more enjoyable.

Additionally, Jennifer was quick to handle any special requests and was more than willing to accommodate dietary restrictions, which I truly appreciated. Her ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude is commendable.

Overall, Jennifer's outstanding service and vibrant personality made my visit to Hook and Reel memorable. I highly recommend sitting at the bar and enjoying a drink crafted by her. I look forward to returning and experiencing her...
