Pete's Place in Taylor, MI, presents a welcoming, casual dining atmosphere that's ideal for families and friends alike. The owners' thoughtful attention to acoustics, evidenced by the strategically placed ceiling panels, is a testament to their commitment to guest comfort. The result is a vibrant space that avoids the often-dreaded echo chamber effect. From the moment we stepped inside, the service was impeccable. We were promptly greeted and escorted to a conveniently located table, demonstrating a keen awareness of accessibility needs. Our server, Mackenzie, was a delight – knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Her expertise with the cocktail menu was particularly appreciated, as my wife savored the Hawaiian Mule, a refreshing blend of house-infused pineapple vodka, ginger beer, and hand-pressed lime juice. While delicious, the pineapple notes were somewhat overshadowed by the dominant lime. We began our culinary journey with the Craft Beer Battered Pickle Spears, a revelation in fried appetizers. The hand-cut spears, encased in a light, crispy, and decidedly non-greasy batter, were reminiscent of tempura – a testament to the kitchen's skill. The accompanying Sriracha ranch offered a pleasant kick, and the option of a standard ranch for those with milder palates was a thoughtful touch. My wife's Chicken Salad Sandwich, served on wheat bread and upgraded to a Deluxe, was a study in quality. The generous portion of house-made chicken salad was clearly crafted with care, avoiding the pitfalls of overly salty canned chicken and excessive fillers. The accompanying French fries were, like the pickle spears, perfectly crispy and grease-free, and the Loaded Baked Potato Soup was rich and satisfying. My choice, the "Works" Tavern Burger, presented a minor disappointment. While the 1/3 pound beef patty, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and red onion were all of excellent quality, the burger was cooked well-done instead of my requested medium, and the fried egg was over-hard. The craft beer cheese added a nice touch, but the burger lacked a preferred runny egg, a crucial element for a truly decadent bar burger. The Sweet Potato Fries, while well-prepared, were paired with a lackluster brown sugar sauce devoid of any brown sugar flavor or crunch. We wrapped up dinner with the Skillet cookie Sundae dessert. That is a fresh baked chocolate chunk cookie topped with vanilla ice cream streaked with chocolate syrup, served on a hot cast iron skillet. Despite the minor burger mishap, the overall dining experience was exceptional. The restrooms were clean and modern, and the dining area boasted a warm, inviting ambiance, thanks to the well-placed, focused lighting. Mackenzie's service was top-notch, and the restaurant's cleanliness was evident throughout. Pete's Place offers a winning combination of excellent service, comfortable atmosphere, and largely delicious food. There was a technology fee of $2.64 for our $95 bill. That wouldn't even cover the credit card processing fee. I'm happy to pay such a small fee for using my credit card instead of cash. It's difficult for restaurants to operate profitably, so instead of passing h We will undoubtedly return to explore more of their menu and drink offerings. Highly recommended for families, casual diners, and anyone seeking a satisfying meal in a welcoming environment.

I liked the place and will definitely go back. Would like to give it a 3.5 star but cannot because of google. Waitress seemed new, but with COVID and everything, she was still good. Ipad draft list, which was great but you couldn't order on it, our waitress did offer a tasting on a beer I'd never tried (no suggestions however, though in all fairness I didn't ask about anything but "what do you have on draft" to which she did not know them all of course, but really just relied on the ipad)... Great beers on draft, about 40, definitely go here for the 30+ I think beers on draft..small bar though considering they should and do advertise their GREAT beers on draft. Good happy hour deals, appetizers, mixed drinks, different day deals, I included pictures. I went here because I was impressed with their very large menu..unfortunately you can usually only pull that off only by cutting corners. We tried several things..The crab cake appetizer: It was deep fried, still good, just not great..We tried the fried pickles (waitress stated they were a hit with customers) they were sliced length wise and the fried, I prefer chips, they were good but not great, they came with a sriracha ranch which my friend LOVED..for our entrees we had a The Texan Burger and the Blackened Mahi Mahi. My friend is a bacon cheese burger only type of guy, gave it a 6-7/10 because there was not enough bbq on it (he thought they forgot looking at it, it was on the bottom), said it was cooked to temp though, and it didn't come with fries. My Mahi Mahi was great considering we are in Michigan. Blackened perfectly, served with a side..which I got the caesar salad (could have done a soup instead) instead of the fries or vegetables offered at 330 on a Thursday (not all sides available before dinner) the croutons were great and the dressing was thick and delicious. Over all liked the place but like I said 3.5 stars.. the appetizers were not very impressive and the service was off for a couple of reasons. Did love that the drafts were advertised on big screens. Decor was okay. We sat in a booth and were happy.

The place is very hit and miss. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere, but it's a bit tight between tables. The servers were friendly but slow and inexperienced. At least half the drinks spilled a little on the way to the table because they were so full, but I'm not complaining. They were strong too, but still good. After about 20 minutes we got our soups, which were all very good. About 15 minutes later the salads came out, then another 20 or so minutes for the entrees. I got the Mediterranean burger, which was cooked perfectly, but bland. Half the entrees were very good, especially the steak and the fries, but a lot was disappointing. The mozzarella sticks weren't very melty and the chicken on the salad was almost inedible. We had another long wait for checks, but after 2 and a half hours we were on our way out. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and had a good time, but there's much to improve upon.

Had the worst experience today. We ordered or drinks and food at 11:10. Rachel our server did not bring cream and sugar as requested when we ordered. She did not come back with the cream and sugar after the second request. So I went and grabbed the sugar from one of the serving stations and walked to the front and got assistance from a lovely pregnant server. Rachel came back about 25min later and asked how we were doing at which time I asked for more coffee. She proceeds to checkout a table who had the worst things to say about her service as well. She passed right by a coffee pot at the check out station. Goes and hugs two people she must know and stays there for a while then heads back to the main dinning room. At this point the guy behind us who just got his check is pissed 😡 gets up and they walk out and says they had the worst service. Which I say I am glad we are not the only ones experiencing and feeling that way. A few min later another server brings bar drinks to another table and I ask her if we can get coffee and she promptly walked to the check out station where it was at and refilled us. We have been waiting for our food and need refills on drinks cause it's been 50min. Rachel comes to the table and tries to deliver food to our table that we did not order. Like come on Rachel didn't you write down our orders in your book. She finally brings our food 10min later. She then finally comes around asking if we need refills on drinks. Everytime we were looking for her she was at this high top table talking. She dropped the check and boxes then went and sat at this high top table. She was there for at least ten min while we wrapped up our conversation and was still there as we walked past the window to leave. I tried calling the restaurant as we are leaving. I was on hold for 6min to speak to a manager before I just hung up and went to write this review.

The food and drinks are always amazing and usually the service. But from now on wil request to not sit in...
