Roberto's Pizzeria & Restaurant — Restaurant in Teaneck Township

The good reviews of Coliseum Pizzeria are well-deserved. I live in the DC area and I come to Hackensack frequently on business. I always look for special places to eat, from diners to high-end restaurants. This evening I felt like pizza so after checking the reviews on GoogleMaps I bought a bottle of wine at Santa Fe Wines (which I just reviewed) and went to Coliseum. The place is simple with counter service and a few tables toward the back. They provided a menu, a corkscrew, a wine glass and a table and I ordered. The salad was made with obvoius care from perfectly fresh produce. The pizza was light, tasty and also had a range of very fresh ingredients. The owner and I discussed his approach and he seemed interested in providing thin-crust or other types of pies that I requested. I have some favorites that I will ask him to prepare on my next visit. Prices used to be great. Now all the prices increased under new ownership. If you are going to increase the prices you better increase the quality. Unfortunately, i gave this place i used to love a couple chances recently but it’s just not the same. i don’t usually call to complain but i thought maybe this time it was just a mistake and wanted to let them know. i ordered a grilled chicken hero with lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayo. simple… $10. As i got home to enjoy the hero… i thought they forgot to add the chicken. When i actually looked closer i see it’s there. To me… this isn’t a grilled chicken hero… especially for $10. It was the thinnest piece of chicken in a hero i ever saw. the gentleman i spoke to said that’s what they used… 7 ounce chicken for their hero’s. Here is a picture. what do you guys think? I placed my order with very specific instructions and was told no problem. They then send me a sandwich no mayo after I directed it be on the side. I call back and am told they will send. Here it is 40 minutes later and they tell me they can't send someone for just that. At this point I have informed them my sugar is low and I need to eat something. All I get is I'm sorry. Now I have to find something else to eat after spending $32. They can't get orders correct, customer service sucks, and they for sure didn't give a damn about me going into hypoglycemia. Mind you the delivery person was tipped well. Not my first encounter with disappointment with this...
