First, Iād like to point out how the reviewer āKala Charlesā left a negative review. I was there before and after she walked out disrespectfully. She came in, everyone greeted her, including myself and she looked at everyone and proceeded with her phone conversation with an unpleasant smirk. Seeing that Ms. Charles was still on the phone, the wife didnāt want to interrupt, so she started a conversation with me all while still looking at Ms. Charles to be prepared whenever Ms. Charles was ready.
The wife asked her if Ms. Charles recorded her because she does not like to be on camera. Ms. Charles responded by saying āthereās nothing here to recordā That was a bit snarky and disrespectful if you ask me.
Then the wife asked her what would she like to have she blew her off and said Iāll order with him (the husband) the wife said thatās ok however the husband chimes in and stated she will take good care of you while I wrap up this order (my order)
Ms. Charles asked for red snapper, legume and much more. The wife said unfortunately we donāt have Red Snapper today but we have the others. Ms. Charles proceeded with her phone conversation then abruptly walked out.
I would hate to judge a book by its cover but just her entrance ALONE, without a greeting and the clothing she wore in the restaurant can tell a lot about a person.
This isnāt my restaurant but I have Jamaican relatives who own and run a business and Ms. Charles was disrespectful.
Either way, this was my first time visiting this restaurant and it was amazing. I got two large dinners of the Griot, rice and peas, oxtails, plaintains, picklez and everything was cooked to perfection. I passed their information out to my coworkers and Iām sure we now have a new restaurant added to our list...

Today, I purchased 2 griots from this place, and they have no taste at all. I should have figured this out when he asked me how do I want my griot, which I was never asked by any Haitian restaurants not to exclude the plantains were saggy and hard. This guy charged me $18 a piece for griots, which I specifically told him I donāt mind as long the food is good. He asked what do you mean āenough foodā I said again I am talking about taste. My griot had about 15 fried plantains and a bunch of bite size of griots. The sauce was filled with oils and the peekliz was nasty and donāt look like it. Be aware the pictures on his website is not how this food look like. I will never go back not even referring this place to my enemy let alone a friend. NASTY FOOD! Do yourself a favor donāt go there!
I never receive a call from businesses that I reviewed. I just received one today. My review is not to create an enemy but to encourage you to do better. Mr. Edward, I wish you well in your business but please take this opportunity to amend as needed in your business. I will suggest you to adjust the taste of your griots not to exclude to cut bigger pieces and thereās no need to add 15 pieces of plantains but make you properly fry them, and 5 or 6 will be enough. My wife and I tried 3 times to patronize this restaurant and it's always an issue. 1st try we showed up at 12:30 (30 min after they advertise they open) and had to wait 20 min for someone to come to the door to tell us he had a catering order and that they weren't open. No big deal, we went somewhere else. 2nd attempt: I called to place an order 2hrs before they "advertise" they close, and everything we tried to order he stated he was out of. I cancelled the order and told my wife I'd give them 1 more try due to the reviews. 3rd attempt: I called and the owner to confirm they were open and had a FULL menu and he stated he didn't want to do business with me??? Said he remembered me, and made note of my number (that I've only used with him once) and hung up the phone???
