Java Haute — Restaurant in Terre Haute

Disappointed. While inside the shop, a mom and her 2 daughters came in. I was able to hear one of the young ladies (maybe 6 or 7 years old) request a specific cinnamon roll. The employee denied her that specific treat and stated there was some type of order they had to go in and gave her a different one. What a lousy way to treat a customer, regardless of age. I enjoy the coffee shop in general and stop by once or twice every couple weeks, but this put a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. I understand rotating older items out first, but I also worked in customer service long enough to know that if a customer, especially a little girl asks for a specific item that is obviously available and on display, you give them that. Clearly the person behind the counter doesn’t have children, or they would know how a simple thing can make a child’s day better. I've lived in Terre Haute for five years now and have been coming here regularly since day one. I love the atmosphere and artwork.

They recently slimmed down their menu and no longer serve sandwiches and such. Their new toast options are very good though. The avocado and feta was delicious. I've tried a lot of gluten free breads, and their homemade is awesome. I haven't tried the salads yet, but I bet they're very good. The coffee is always good.

My wife is less inclined to go here anymore, as she is not a coffee drinker and loved the baked potato grilled cheese. 😔 She hopes they will have something similar as a special "Toast of the Week" option at least in the future. She hopes the new menu works out well.

Inside has nice ambiance. They always seem so busy.. Lots of ding dong people on laptops that take up all the booths that have seats that support your back. If you're going there to meet someone, prepare to sit on hard stools and have back pain. The coffee is ok I guess. I've only had their iced black coffee because that's all I drink when I go out for coffee. The coffee I make at home taste better. They charge you 3.75 for 20 ounces lol.. the best thing about going there is the interesting art work and music. Maybe their sugary coffees are good. But I don't have sugar...
