I don't go to bars very often, and having moved to Terre Haute a little over a year ago, I found this bar to have a nice quit atmosphere. We usually go in with my son and daughter in law or just my husband and myself. My daughters boyfriend was visiting from California and was talking about bars that do the tab tickets. I told him we know just the place. My daughter just moved less than a month ago and has had her id stolen. She has to get new paperwork to prove the change of address, so has no id. She is 26 but looks younger. When we walked in I was looking for a place to sit and we landed by the bar. The bartender asked her boyfriend what she could get him, and then looked at my daughter and said do you have your id. My daughter said unfortunately not. The bartender said then get out. I asked are you kidding, and she said no she needs to get her ass out of here now. I said she's 26 and I understand she doesn't look it. The bartender said the only thing you need to understand is she needs to leave. I told her she had no business being so rude. She asked my husband what he was having. I said your not drinking anything we are not staying anywhere that we are treated this rude. I walked out because I was so mad. My daughters boyfriend was trying to give back the drink and other patrons in the bar was telling the bartender that you know kindness is a language and she cussed at them and said then she doesn't know that +#$%+#% language. I will never go back except to speak to the owner and let them know how their employees behave. I would have been fine, if I was told we can't have anyone that looks under 21 in here without id. Where I moved from she came with me to the bars when I went and if she forgot her id, she wasn't served. She was still allowed into the bar, so I didn't know any better. It's not like we came in drunk or looking inappropriate. I just got off work and my husband and I were casually dressed, it wasn't like young people trying to sneak a friend in. Also the boyfriend didn't get carded and he...
Read moreI feel slightly bad about what's to follow; to be fair, I did enjoy my meal (one big mother of a catfish po'boy) and a half-dozen Coronas over the course of a Monday evening (about 4 hours), and I was going to give them a glowing review until I woke up the next morning and regurgitated the contents of my stomach. My bowels had also turned to water, and I'm not going to get into further details but I did require a change of pants a few hours after the initial event while trying to work; in short, I'm all but certain I was served a side of food poisoning with my dinner, and it took nearly a week for my digestive system to fully recover. Should I ever happen to be spending another night in Terre Haute, I wouldn't necessarily pass this place up for drinks but I think I'll be satisfying my hunger elsewhere; it's not a bad bar on the whole and I assume my experience is a rare one, but I can't risk a repeat and being put out of commission like that again. It's a shame, though; my food was tasty and filling, and the bartender (also the cook, that may have been a factor) was friendly and...
