I had been to 7th and Elm with decent experiences before my last one, and I will never return. My family, who had travelled two and a half hours to come down, expected a good meal. They ordered chicken wings, and after the waitress finally brought them and left, we found out the meat on the thicker wings was bloody. After about five minutes of trying to flag down the waitress talking at the bar, she took the wings back to the cook who sent them back out (untouched and still bloody), saying that it was "bone marrow." All my family wanted was for them to be cooked longer. It ended up being a huge argument in which the waitress and cook insulted my family by basically saying that we were stupid because the BLOOD RED on the chicken "was not blood." She said that "she would eat it because SHE knows it's cooked and we complained enough that she would take it off of the bill."
Every staff member that was sent over to speak with us treated us as imbeciles and was extremely rude. I have worked in food service for four years, as well as other members in my family have. There was no "customer service." The wings should have been re-cooked and brought back out and the problem would have been fixed. Instead, the waitstaff argued with us and caused us to become even more upset at the way we were treated. If I had pulled a stunt like that when I was a waitress, I would have been FIRED from my job.
If you want undercooked food and a waitstaff that is young, inexperienced, and treats you like dirt, then by all means - this is the...
Read moreToday was our 1st visit, so I'll give you the suggestions I have. I got the Philly and would have liked to add mushrooms, but that wasn't available. We looked at all the appetizers and would have loved to be able to order a combo, but that's also not available. My Husband wanted the Cowboy Philly, but since you only had one Philly Bun he ordered Dbl Bacon Cheeseburger. He thought the hamburger meat was very salty .. and just so-so burger. He did enjoy the bacon! I had also wanted to order onion chips as my side, but your menu is getting ready to change and that's no longer available.
My suggestion .. make sure you have a thing or 2 on your menu that is really special and you can't get anywhere else. The BLT with Fried Green Tomato sounded really good! My understanding is you get your food from a local restaurant supply. You should really consider getting your hamburger and maybe Philly meat from one of the local meat markets .. you can definitely tell the difference in taste. We left not really feeling like we got our money's worth .. and taste wise, there was nothing wrong but it didn't Wow us. Based on this visit, we probably won't be back. I do love that you are pet friendly and I'm sure the the open air eating area...
Read moreSo as someone who's worked in a restaurant for a while now I think I'm finally qualified enough to leave reviews. So first of all the staff were exceptionally polite and accommodating, my parents asked to move upstairs as the downstairs AC did not work when we visited but that's a temporary issue. Service would have been 5 stars but they were definitely atleast a little short staffed when we visited, so food did take a bit longer then my younger siblings liked. Sometimes you just cant find people for some nights so again, temporary issue i've been there too. Speaking of the food however. It was fantastic I ordered the spicy philly sandwich (I think that's the name I forgot it when we were waiting) and it was delightful. I ordered a side of tator tots with it and they were delicious as well, I wasn't expecting them to be seasoned but I was however, pleasantly surprised. Should I end up in Terre Haute again (which may be difficult as I live in Wisconsin and we were just down here to visit my stepsister) I will absolutely...
