Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Texarkana

As others have said in reviews I have read elsewhere: If I could have given zero stars, I would have done so. Truth be told, if I could have given minus stars, I would rate this place as minus 5. I ordered a two piece fish and six piece shrimp platter with fries and slaw. When I opened the box I found the fish, shrimp and fries sitting atop what appeared to be very greasy/oily fried crumbles of bread batter. The battered fish fillets were covered in thick batter that seemed to be oozing oil as were the breaded shrimp. The fries were very oily as well. The crumbles of greasy batter that covered the bottom of the box looked like a waste product. There were also two hush puppies (I think that is what they are called) and amazingly they were the least oily.

The flavor of the oil laden batter on the fish and shrimp was disgusting in my estimation and I peeled off as much of it as I could and ate the then batterless shrimp and fish. The slaw was okay, - maybe because it was the only item not fried in what tasted disgusting to me. I guess I understand why they included 3 packets of tartar sause, 6 of ketchup and 2 containers of cocktail sauce - to hide the flavor of that oil I think. I doubt I will ever again eat at a Long John Silver's. I should have learned my lesson the first and as I recall the only other time I ate at one. That was also disappointing but at least was not one of the worst meals, if not actually the worst meal, I have eaten in decades like was this...

Long John Silver's USED to be my favorite fast food restaurant in Texarkana but, when my husband & I ate there yesterday (well after the lunch rush) the restaurant was Filthy, there was still food All over the floor, the manager was rude & extremely unhelpful, the restroom had no toilet paper or paper towels & the overhead light was going out. I asked the manager for tissue (after she finished her conversation with another worker) she very snidely said "No, we don't have any!" & walled away laughing at something. Another one of the workers brought some tissue out & asked her if she knew how to install it on the roller & she said No, you do it. He came back out & apologized & told me there was some in there now & told her the light was going out, she said "oh, I know" & walked away. I asked for the restaurant # when I got a to go box & she VERY reluctantly gave it, not to me but, to the cashier. Needless to say, I definitely won't be going back there...

Staffing was not overly pleasant nor business like. Restaurant was untidy and women's restroom shot water all over the place out of the handle when I attempted to flush the toilet and would not flush. Advised an employee who barely acknowledged me and did nothing about the situation. The other 3 people eating with me received their meals over 10 minutes before I received my food. I ordered the grilled salmon and grilled shrimp taco combo with coleslaw. The food was definitely worth the wait and the lack of inviting atmosphere though. They were fresh, hot, and extremely flavorful. Honestly some of the absolute best seafood tacos I've had from anywhere in a very very long time. Their coleslaw was also very tasty, not bland at...
