Schlotzsky's — Restaurant in Texarkana

Stopped by this place because we’ve been there once before. Service was great and so was the food. But I can’t say that this time. We walked up to the counter and ordered the #8 and the #12. The cashier asked what size and we relied with medium. Total rings up and I pay. We are both standing there waiting on cups and the cashier just turns around and starts chatting with people in the kitchen from the door way. About another min and half passes and she walks into the kitchen. Doesn’t even look back as we are still both standing there waiting on cups. She walks into into the kitchen and I’m like wtf! So I reach back and grab two cups. As I do, what appears to have been the manager responds with,”did she forget to give you your cups, I’m sorry”. As we are grabbing our drinks she walks over to the register and then tells us we didn’t pay for drinks and that we would need to do so. We were both surprised because we said the 8/12. She then asked if we wanted chips and we said yes. She went to proceed to charge us ala carte instead as a meal. Which is what we wanted at first. I then decided to ask for a refund because it didn’t make sense to have to pay more for something I’ve already assumed was paid for. Not sure if most restaurants post just ala cart price under the pictures of the meal with the numbers but when you ask for an 8 or 12 and tell them size. You typically are saying the meal. I very rarely get good customer service at this location. When they first reopened after the remodel, the girl working the register was pregnant and very sweet. Today was my first day back and I wanted to redeem my $7 reward. The girl at the window wanted me to hand her my phone. I told her I wasn't comfortable with that, and in my experience, most other restaurants prefer not to do that due to liability issues. She rolled her eyes at me, gave me my total but didn't say another word to me. Handed me my stuff and closed the window. I waited for her to reopen it so I could request parmesan cheese... She asked quite rudely, "In the packet?" Then never said thank you or anything else. Just handed me the cheese and closed the window. I don't think it's necessary to be so rude when I simply don't want to hand over...

Update 07/14/24 - Passing through Texarkana again and ordered my favorite Schlotsky's sammich , the Avocado 🥑 Turkey ! I can't describe it well enough , you just have to try . I can say that I really like the sourdough bread and the ingredients are wonderful . This go-around the team was nice enough to let an old guy take a selfie with them . The young ladies who take my order when I get a sandwich are really cute ! And they do a very good job and are nice to an old rascal !
