TLDR: If your order subtotals over $100, they'll charge an 18% nonnegotiable gratuity. On September 8th at 4 PM, I called in and ordered four large pizzas for a party, which has a subtotal of $120.75, for take out (see the receipt). The person who answered the phone repeated my order and told me to see them in 30 minutes. I notified the person at the register of my order and he handed the four boxes of pizza over to me. After I handed my credit card to him to pay, he said "Oh by the way, any order over $100 comes with an 18% gratuity." What am I supposed to do at this point??? My guests are expecting dinner, but I don't have an alternative anymore since this wasn't communicated over the phone when I had a opportunity to make a different decision. I'm not against restaurant employees earning tips or a livable wage, but to not communicate that until AFTER I've handed my money over is unreasonable and unprofessional. The pizza was solid with tasty toppings and the crust was good. But this action was so unreasonable that despite wanting to support small businesses in my own neighborhood I can no longer do that after this unfortunate incident. I recommend that the owners train their employees consistently and hold them accountable. It's unfortunate as I host groups of 15+ people at least 30 times a year and will not be incorporating Brooklyn Pie into my rotation of restaurants.

If you think that “Brooklyn Pie Co.” off Parmer is different from all the other former names, then think again LOL. It honestly is worse… I saw the name was changed to Brooklyn Pie and thought to myself “could this be the day it actually changes for the better”. Well, I was dead wrong haha. Found a hair in my pie this time. This establishment changing the name so much worked on me again for $24! LOL You are seriously better off getting a gas station pizza or straight to HeB for any of their pies. All that to say, if you are just drunk at Woodrows maybe you won’t care enough about the quality. Until we meet again on the next name change!

Hard to understand some of the bad reviews, we moved to Austin 6 months ago and truly have not found a go to pizza shop . First time ordering last night during football , got a black olive and mushroom and asked for it well done . There’s good and there’s not good in pizza … this was so good , cooked proper crispy , zero flop , traditional pizza . It was high 8s on the Barstool scale . Also got fried ravioli , arrived hot , crispy not greasy with a good rigotta and cheese filling . Way good too.

I ordered a cheese pie, calzone and the mad Italian. I would give them a 3.5 star but I don't think this place is 4 star. The cheese pie tasted like a generic "Brooklyn" pizza. There was nothing special to it. I do wish they added more sauce or at the very least distributed it around better but that's slim pickings. Not much to say on the cheese pie. For the calzone though the best part was the price. It was a deal compared to other calzones in Austin. One thing it does suffer from that many others suffer from is too many toppings and not enough cheese. Still for the price it was a decent calzone that you can't complain about. Now for the mad Italian. I'm not one to judge a pizza based off of "the flop" of a slice but man my slices were extremely flimsy. I felt like I needed to fold the slice from tip to crust to eat it properly. It was strange to say the least. Now I'm not one that believes pineapple should be on pizza but I will say the mixture of all the toppings together were actually pleasantly good. The toppings were all that you could taste though. I couldn't really taste the cheese, the sauce or even the crust. It was still a good pie though. I would definitely recommend it to someone who loves toppings. This place is average. Definitely a joint that I would consider a safe bet. It's not a place I'd recommend but If you like other "Brooklyn" joints in Austin I will say that you'll probably like this...

Brooklyn Pie is conveniently located close to us. The pizza is tasty, not greasy and customizable. The price is reasonable.

We ordered 1 large and 1 medium pizza on a Friday night. Our order was around 5. We understand it’s dinner time on a Friday and don’t expect things to be slow. However, we were given a timeline of 20-25 minutes when we ordered online. I arrived for pick up during that time and was asked to wait 10 minutes (no biggie!).. I watched people wait and come and go. Our order took over an hour. From my own experience in the food industry, I understand delays can happen. What’s upsetting was that I had to check on our order 2-3 times as it kept getting forgotten. I was displeased with the lack of customer service and communication. At the end of the day, it’s just pizza and if it’s a longer wait I just want to know so I can plan accordingly since my 2 kids aren’t as patient. I would suggest in the future to give the customer the courtesy of the choice to wait or move on. Instead, I was told they got a lot of Uber orders.. which again would have been nice to know prior to my extended wait time. I’d like to also suggest communication from the staff since no one wants to feel forgotten or wants to have to be the one nagging the serving staff for an update. Offer water or an easy to grab appetizer while your guests wait.....
