There are 3 reasons why you should eat at Burger King:
The Whopper is delicious.
Their onion rings are delicious.
It is a well-managed company that represents the best of American capitalism.
Of course, Nos. 1 and 2 go without saying. But let's not dwell on the obvious. How about the not so obvious? That's No. 3 on this list.
Burger King has found itself in the middle of a political storm this week, after announcing that it was acquiring Tim Horton's, a Canadian donut and breakfast chain. The company has laid out a myriad of factors behind this decision: the need for growth, the desire to penetrate new markets, expand their operations and offer new product lines. And these are all good, valid reasons. But no one's paying attention to that. Everyone's focused on taxes. Burger King is accused of being one of the latest companies to do a "tax inversion"--move their headquarters out of the U.S. in order to benefit from a lower tax rate elsewhere.
That is exactly what will happen when this deal closes. That's because the corporate rate in the U.S. is higher (around 40%) than our northern neighbor (which is at 26%). These types of deals, which result in paying less U.S. taxes, are not popular with some, particularly those in Washington.
"Burger King is a household name, and this will focus the public's attention on this issue in a way that earlier inversions did not," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.), the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee. He predicted that the Democratic-run Senate would try to pass anti-inversion legislation soon and that Democrats would continue to push for a similar vote in the GOP-run House." After the deal was announced Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown (D) urged Americans to boycott the chain declaring that "Burger King has always said 'Have it Your Way'; well my way is to support two Ohio companies (Wendy's and White Castle) that haven't abandoned their country or customers." Just last month, Congressional Democrats unveiled legislation to bar the awarding of federal contracts to companies that incorporate overseas for tax purposes. Around the same time investor Mark Cuban declared publicly his opposition to tax inversions: "If I own stock in your company and you move offshore for tax reasons I'm selling your stock," Cuban tweeted. "There are enough investment choices out there." And the President has threatened to take action on those companies that are "gaming...
Read moreI'm not racist or prejudice, not even judgmental. However; when I go into a fast food restaurant that isn't even Mexican, i expect to be understood. I don't drive and I make just under a hundred dollars a month, so this is the first time I've ordered out in a VERY long time. I ordered the new ROYAL fiery bacon crispy sandwich and when I got in the car my bf drove off immediately I opened my sandwich to find there was NO BACON, NO CHEESE AND NO SAUCE..not to mention the lettuce was totally different than advertised but thats normal ive come to find out. . So needless to say I'm pretty upset with my experience concerning my order. Now that I'm here I might aswell talk about the cleanliness. Before entering, there was a full grown German cockroach right under the door handle, after I ordered I had to use the women's restroom and all seemed fine until I opened the stall, the inside of the toilet has a gross amount of fecal build up stuck to it, the handle has a trashcan lid and liner covering half of it, the only other stall has a toilet 3/4 full of pee water, probably clogged. I used the restroom anyway because I was already about to pee myself. When I went to wash my hands there was so much force, water was splashing every where and the handle to the paper towel dispenser had a disturbing amount of dust on it. I'm usually not one to leave reviews but they just tipped me over with this one. I really hope they fix that place up and do something about the service. I don't know if I'll be...
Read moreThe speaker needs to be fixed because I could barely hear the person taking my order. I ordered a firey chicken wrap the way it comes and a medium fry....that's all. The employees that were working today have an appauling lack of customer service and urgency. They didn't attempt to greet me in any sort of FRIENDLY way and in fact said as little to me as possible. I worked in the fast food industry for years and I know it gets challenging and I know that you don't always have it in you to provide good service but, this location seems to set the bar at an all time low...for me at least. It took more than 8 minutes to get my food, which again was only 2 items only for IT TO BE COLD!!! I did not wait to get home before eating so the temperature can't be blamed on that. I ate the wrap because I was starving and it well it was disgusting because it needed to be, at the very least, oh I don't know, warm...because that's generally how I like to enjoy my food. I ate maybe a quarter of the fries but they were gross and I really feel like I completely wasted my money coming here. I could understand and forgive the wait time if they were super busy, they had said more than 2 words to me and IF MY FOOD WAS HOT or at least warm but after this, I'm not returning to this location, and I strongly advise everyone who enjoys their food best when it's hot...
