Dined in today and food was tasty; however, disappointed that the cashier and waitress were both arguing with me over them charging me “extra beans” fee. I ordered two tacos but specifically asked that they put them in separate plates/order if they were going to put a smear of beans for both tacos as when ordered separately it’s a tiny spoonful for a single taco. I stated that if they were gonna combine them to please make sure they included beans for both. They argued that it was more than a spoonful each so I was being charged extra. Ridiculous to argue over beans when my ticket was over $40 for breakfast. I will definitely go elsewhere from here on. Trying to support a business for what they stand for only to be embarrassed at check out over the beans served. I tried calling to speak to a manager to avoid this review but was hanged up on twice. Finally told manager was Jonathan on 3rd call but told he wasn’t available and they didn’t know when he would be back to try at 3 pm yet...
Read moreOrdered the bistec ranchero ( returned it), meat had a funny taste to it Just wasnt edible. Not sure exactly wat it was. Meat was hard not soft. Might b that it had been made early morning n it just sat too long. Anyway, not good. Also ordered the Chile relleno. You could taste the reheated oil too much. The filling which was meat n potatoes was not good either. Meat tasted like it refried beans in it and potatoes were to mushy. Im not usually a texture person with food, but this one for to me. N to top it off, the tea tasted like they used yesterdays left over tea and just added whatever they brewed today. It had that spoiling taste to it. If u know tea u know what im talking about. Salsa was good thou. The chips were slightly on the hard side. They wouldnt honor fact that we didn't like the food and still charged fill price. I ate mine but the bistec was not touched at all. Oh well. Hope they improve but were not...
Read moreCarmelitas Restaurant in Pharr is a true local treasure. This small, family-owned spot delivers big on flavor, and it's clear they put a lot of heart into their food.
They have a fantastic menu that covers both breakfast and lunch, so you can enjoy their delicious offerings no matter the time of day. And speaking of the space itself, the restrooms are always spotless—a great sign of a well-run establishment.
A highlight of any meal here is their salsas. They are incredibly spicy and delicious, adding a perfect kick to any dish. I'm a regular, and I can't get enough of their cheese enchiladas. They're perfectly cheesy and full of flavor. My go-to order is the Mexican Plate, a delicious combination of tostadas and a crunchy taco. It’s the perfect mix of textures and tastes. If you're looking for a genuine, flavorful meal from a local spot, Carmelitas is the place to be. You won't be...
