Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings — Restaurant in Texas

I've been a fan of Philly cheesesteaks since my college days of the 70s back in the Northeast. Unfortunately there were very few places offering that in the Houston area. When one popped up, I tried it out. Most were not so good, but one large chain (I suppose) was pretty good. Unfortunately they went out of business 5-10 years ago.

I've seen Charley's at the food court of a local mall, but never tried it since almost always we were going to be eating dinner nearby. When I saw this location after dropping off some drycleaning, I asked the dry cleaner if he ever tried it, and he said it was good.

He was right. I just had the large Philly cheesesteak sandwich and some fries. The fries were plentiful and good. The cheesesteak did hit the mark. It was very similar to the ones I ate back in the Northeast. I had to have them hold the mayo and pickles (not very typical) and I discovered there were green peppers mixed in with the onions and mushrooms. I don't think that's typical either, and the next time I'll ask to hold them. I was happy to see it came with provolone, not the icky cheezwiz they use in Philly. It came with tomatoes and lettuce which many don't have, but the shop I went to back in the Northeast put them on, so they were okay with me.

The steak, mushrooms, onions, provolone, and sandwich roll were all fresh and high quality. I will be coming...

Extremely inappropriate and rude service. I ordered curbside pickup, but it was raining, so I thought it would be easier to go inside instead of making the employees walk out to me with the food. When I walked in, I did not receive any greeting other than,"Your name" from one guy in the kitchen. I gave my name and he said the food would be ready in 15 seconds. No problem, I was not in a hurry. After a couple of minutes he brought me the food and jokingly said "Here you go maam. Watch your step on the way out cuz we will be locking the door right behind you." What???? He and two other coworkers were extremely amused and laughing. I disturbingly responded "ooook, thank you? And you have a good night too." I left. It was 15 min before closing time, but this kind of behavior and disrespect is not acceptable for a customer or anybody for that matter. I interpreted this as if I was not welcome and shouldn't have come. No greeting, no have a good night. Just rude sarcasm and disrespect. This is not my first time at this location and I have not had any issues in the past, but it might be my last. Very disappointing experience.

I had an amazing experience at this Charley’s Steakhouse location! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how spotless and well-maintained everything was. The cleanliness of the restaurant was top-notch, making for an even more enjoyable dining experience.

The food was absolutely phenomenal—my steak was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and paired with delicious sides. But what truly set this visit apart was the exceptional service. Stephanie, the manager, was incredibly welcoming and made sure everything was perfect. Her professionalism and attention to detail were outstanding, and it’s clear she takes great pride in ensuring every guest has a fantastic experience.

The entire staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and I truly appreciate the effort put into making this an unforgettable meal. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this Charley’s Steakhouse to anyone looking for amazing food, excellent service, and a spotless dining...
