FYI - While the sign outside says Taqueria Restaurant El Gallo Del Oro, the place is really Restaurante El Rinconcito Calentano.
Second time here in 3 months. This is really a lovely little Mexican place. The furniture is classic mexican restaurant style, a big upgrade from standard entry level often seen in just getting started restaurants. On the first visit I had some lunch tacos that were very tasty. Can't remember exactly which ones, but they DO make their own tortillas, both flour AND corn, IN HOUSE. This is a game changer. Today I went with a co-worker and I had the #1 Beef and Chicken Fajitas, with corn tortillas. This also included a small side bowl of charro beans and bacon soup. Everything was full of flavor. Thick pillowy tortillas that I filled with nicely charred beef & chicken fajitas mixed with caramelized onions and green bell peppers. So so so good.
Also they do have three levels of hot sauce, the green is basically pureed jalapeños, the dark red is a wonderful smokey hotness, and the bright red is a robust put some hair on your chest, but full of flavor hot sauce. Pair any of them with the meal or the super crunchy chips and you're getting your mouth burn on!
Washed this down with a massive lemonade.
On this visit we got quick prompt service. Both of the ladies that took the order, brought the food and rung us up at the register we very sweet nice and helpful.
The menu is HUGE. Everything is reasonably/cheaply priced. Lots of items to make my way though. Will be back.
Outstanding for the area. Highly...
Read moreSecond time coming here, decided to bring my mom for lunch because I enjoyed my first visit but this time there was a hair in my moms food and she didn’t find it until she was finished with her food. We let one the workers know and she didn’t really do much about it besides take the plate to the back and just said well you ate all the food, ok? Our waitress came back to the table and asked how everything was an we told her we found a hair in my mother’s food and she also didn’t really do much just walked to the back to look at the plate. They never came back to the table to apologize or anything so I walked up to the counter to pay and they charged us half of her meal which I understood and payed but then the waitress with oversized eyelashes had the audacity to say “it looked like the hair was placed over the plate” um, excuse me?? Not even an apology and you try to insinuate they we put the hair there ourselves?! My mom has blond hair!! And my hair was in a pony table across the table from her. I was planning on still leaving her a tip since the hair incedent had nothing to with her but after that comment I refused to leave her a penny. The food was good but customer service was trash. Will never be returning! Beware of hairs in your food next time cause they’ll just say “oh, it...
Read moreCame with my hispanic friend. The waitress BARELY acknowledged me and only spoke in Spanish. Although the chimichanga was huge it was bland and soggy from all the cheese. It covered the entire plate, not like how the picture was on the menu. She let me know that the salad was an upcharge but for $2.99, I got about 8 pieces of lettuce, a spoonful of sourcream and 3 slices of avocado; all wet from the cheese. Had to ask for the chopped tomoatoes. The rice and beans taste out of a can/pouch, no seasoning whatsoever. We were the only people in the restaurant. The waitress came to check one time but she did not look at me, only my friend to ask her if she needed anything in Spanish. I wish she would have asked me about my meal bc I would have ordered something else instead. When my friend got done the waitress took our plates yet mine was only halfway done. She did not even ask me if I wanted a to-go box (I didn't bc it was not good). When it was time to pay my friend was talking to her about what I ordered; the waitress then lets me know in perfect English that I could have gotten the cheese on the side. It would have been nice to know my options in the begining. My friend said, "Wow I thought maybe she didn't know English bc she barely spoke to you. I'm sorry for...
