First and last visit. The restaurant was pretty empty and now I know why. Although we were the only people in line, we were not greeted and stood at the counter for quite a while getting rude stares from the staff behind the counter who looked angry to see us. The kid at the meat section said I’m working on this to go order then you can tell me what you want. At which time I told him we’ve never been there, still crickets while we watched him and another person pack up some food.
There was very little meat on the chop block and it did not look the best. The brisket appeared to be boiled and baked and gummy. We should have left right then lol.
Still gave this place a chance. I ordered a stuffed baked potato all the way. The meat slicer really wasn’t helpful in explaining the process he just took a potato out, smashed it and walked away then took the next order. So I walked toward the cashier to the next unfriendly employee and told him I had never been there as well. This kid listed the options for a potato and began to dress it up.
He walked away too to get the meat from a bottom drawer so I wasn’t able to see the contents until he dumped some in my potato. It appears that the scraps and fat from the slicer area are placed into a drawer for the potatoes bc that’s certainly what I got. Old, crispy, fat filled, unseasoned, scraps of regret.
Then to top it off, sprinkles of what appeared to be uncooked bacon. Oh man.
The bacon looked raw and bc it had solidified fat on it just like it looks from the grocery store I touched it and I told the guy that it was ice cold-FROZEN!!!! And he immediately said, it’s not frozen, it’s just cold. Disgusting!
I took the bacon off the potato in front of the cashier and I told her it was frozen with zero reaction. She didn’t even have the decency to remove the bacon from the receipt.
$43.73 (my potato and a 2 meat plate for my spouse) of wasted money.
Their food was also terrible. The brisket was fatty, tasteless and appeared to have been boiled or baked and tasted like a senior center roast. None of their food items were good either.
So last! The bread. How many ways can a place destroy bread? Well, several! The bread had a bad flavor, it was hard on surface from being left to rise too long and deflated when you took a bite.
I wish I had taken pics of the pasty gray color of the meat and the burnt crispy jerky and fatty scraps from the potato.
But the disappointment was beyond.
I’m gonna leave some tips hoping that the owners have no idea how horrible the customer service is at this location, and how careless the staff was to even serve that kind of food to paying customers.
Greet the customers and smile If a customer tells you they’ve never been there, put on your best, talk them through the process of ordering and at the very least be nice. Do not serve scraps from a hidden drawer for any item on the menu. Never serve cold meats, frozen meats or if that was some kind of pre cooked refrigerated bacon, it was surely unsafe. Cook the bacon!!!! And make it fresh. Ugh that was the worst. Fix the rolls. Make sure they are the right texture and have flavor. Inject the meats with seasoning and only serve them smoked off a grill. Never ever boil or bake brisket meat, it tastes horrible that way.
This was my family’s first and last visit.
I hope the owners see this. Know that this location needs immediate training on customer service and food handling.
I would not recommend this place. It’s overpriced, the staff was awful and the quality of food was really terrible. Worst bbq I have ever had in my life.
Ps you see that bacon? Why does it look raw and why was it frozen?? Just...
Read moreWe had planned Rudy's BBQ at first but seen this place when we were driving home and thought, maybe this is just as good with all the cars in the parking lot....
We didn't know what to expect when we walked in as this was our first visit. First, if you're new to this, get ready to go through a rushed line and make sure you have your mind made up. They let you serve your own sides so you can load them but I am about portion size.
My husband ordered a two meat plate and I ordered a one meat (sausage) plate, I only wanted side order of sausage but the guy put a roll on it so I got charged for that. I had to go back to the line and cut in front of people after paying to get my two sides (very ackward) because line was to the door. First the price was way more than we are used to paying but assumed it was going to be well worth it ($23 for his and $15 for mine w/no drink).
For the two plate brisket and chicken = the meat was chopped up so wasn't what we expected but flavor good. the chicken in my opinion tasted too smoked, the sides were average, nothing to brag on. For the one plate, I took one bite and no more...left it on plate, both me and hubby agreed it tasted just like Eckridge sausage but with grease poured over it. The macaroni was pretty good.
I think the reason for higher cost per plate and the hype of a lot of people is that there is a waitress walking around handing out complimentary glasses of vanilla ice cream and another handing out hot mini loaves of bread (very tasty).
First time here and probably won't eat there again as it was almost a chain type of BBQ and way too greasy.
Gave it two stars because of the family environment, tasty hot bread, and generous servings of ice cream. Doesn't compare to Rudy's BBQ in taste, quality, value,...
Read moreSo my family and I decided to try out this place. I’ve heard the the food here was amazing. So we went in on a Sunday around 7pm. And let me tell you that upon entering this place, we had no idea what what we were supposed to do. So as we come in, 2 men at the meat station were not helpful nor did they explain how we go about ordering food and nor did they greet us. I’ve worked in customer service for many years and I know that greetings are an absolute MUST with customers. Making them feel welcome and comfortable! Well they definitely did not do that! So we figured out what we were to do. As we moved to the sides station, again there was a rude person there as well. I asked if these were the only sides available as there was sides uncovered and covered. I figured the covered ones were available to us as well and the person said No, those ain’t for you! As we got to the cashier, we were not greeted.. we told the girl all of what we had, I asked her if she got everything, she rolled her eyes and just nodded! I was absolutely done and very upset! We were polite and obviously new to all this and the treatment we received was beyond friendly! I spoke to the manger and I told him that his staff was rude and I did not appreciate it! As for the food, everything was really good! But those little breads were incredible and the girl working that station was phenomenal! So thank you girl in the bread station! You absolutely brought a smile to us by bringing us fresh soft...
