Ate lunch here at about 12:20 PM on 7/11/2018. This is the first time I have been to La Brisa in about 8 years. The added patio/bar space is really nice. It appears to me to actually be larger than the inside dining space. However, it was a normal hot, muggy day in Bacliff, so I opted to dine in the enclosed dining area. Considering the number of vehicles parked by the building, I thought the place was busy. I counted only 2 other tables with patrons. Perhaps everybody else was in the enclosed bar, separate from the dining room.
I got the 8 oz Chile con Queso with beef fajita meat as an appetizer and the Burrito Grande filled with beef fajita meat plus charro beans as my entree. Including tax, that came to $22.29. As with most Tex-Mex restaurants I was served chips, salsa and a green sauce when I was seated. The chips were fresh tasting, thin and nicely crispy. The red salsa was "meh", but the green avocado-based salsa was excellent, actually having a bit of a kick.
The chili con queso was a cut above the average, and both pickled and raw slices, in abundance. were served on the side!
The beef fajita burrito grande was actually the low point of the meal. The charro beans were fine, as was the rice accompaniment, but the grande burrito was just ... bland. It was simply a flour tortilla semi-filled with finely chopped fajita beef. The chili gravy and hit of cheese on the top really didn't add anything to it. The tortilla wasn't rolled around the meat properly, so every time I tried to cut off a piece to eat, the meat ended up on the plate and the tortilla piece was on my fork. I'm not sure why it was so poorly wrapped. The actual presentation of the food was on a par with many magazine covers.
Service was prompt, attentive and most cordial.
I have mixed thoughts on the meal. The actual fajita meat used in the burrito and added to the chili con queso was very, very good. The chili con queso base, as I mentioned, is a definite cut above the usual Tex-Mex fare. The food served to me looked appetizing. I think perhaps the kitchen just needs someone else to assemble entree ingredients into...
Read moreIf I could give the food and service a negative star, it would be done. I have eaten here many times and the last few have NOT been good experiences. We went lastnight and Alexander C was our server out on the patio. He was HORRIBLE! And should not be a server. He would stop at the table for a whole 2 seconds and run off. He would ask 1 person at our table of 8 if everything was ok but no one else. My husband waited 22 mins for a refill that I had to get up and go ask for. We needed silverware and yet he was no wr to be found. Again, I had to get up to go ask for some. We asked for some small plates for a shared meal (made for sharing) and food came, guess what no plates. And, you guessed it, he was gone. For the 3rd time I had to get up from our table to go and get some, as our food was just getting cold and nasty. Both mine and my husbands food was super disgusting too. My chicken was so dry and just bleh. Everytime he would walk anywr in our direction we had to yell just to get him to come to our table. Then the to go boxes.....we asked for a cpl AND the checks, as we needed to get out of there. Well as we sit there waiting and waiting, hes just taking care of many other tables and after many many many mins still has not brought any. So another person had to get up and go get boxes and our checks. We gave him ample time to do the basic things. We didnt ask for extra stuff, we didnt require extra attention, none of that. But then they added on gratuity when we were all seperate tickets and he absolutely, positivily did NOT deserve close to what they charged for it. I was a server and lived on my tips. Its complete bs that they can suck sooooooooo bad but yet still get their full tip bc they just put it on your bill. They lost all 8 of us as customers lastnight and 1 of us has a prominent organization that would go in a lot. They too will be done. Sorry La Brisa,...

My recent visit to La Brisa Mexican Bar and Grill left me with mixed feelings. While the food was decent and the atmosphere lively, the overall experience was marred by subpar service and some disappointing aspects of the ambiance.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in the palapa area, which offered a casual and relaxed setting. However, the ambiance was disrupted by the constant noise from the nearby highway, making it difficult to hold a conversation without raising our voices.
Unfortunately, the service did not improve our experience. Our waiter seemed disorganized and inattentive, even going as far as taking a lunch break during our meal without notifying us. This left us waiting for an extended period without any assistance, which was frustrating and unprofessional.
To add to the frustration, when I requested a mimosa, I was initially told it was not available, only to later discover that it was indeed on the menu. This lack of communication and attention to detail further detracted from our dining experience.
Despite these shortcomings, I must commend La Brisa for their flavorful Mexican cuisine. The dishes we ordered were tasty and well-prepared, showcasing authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. It's clear that the kitchen staff takes pride in their craft, and their efforts did not go unnoticed.
In conclusion, while La Brisa Mexican Bar and Grill offers a vibrant atmosphere and delicious food, the overall experience was dampened by subpar service and ambient noise. With some improvements in communication and attention to customer needs, this establishment has the potential to truly shine in the local...
