I decided to visit Mandi Cocina Mexicana located at 24179 SH 249 Tomball TX, 77375 since it was walking distance from my aunt’s apartment complex in a little plaza right next door to a nail salon. I decided to have a little pampering done since it was my last day in Texas, so I got my nails done first and then went right next door for lunch, how convenient!
The place wasn’t crowded, my aunt and I arrived around 1:40 pm on a Tuesday, but we noticed it started to get a little busier about 20 minutes after we got there. Our server was really nice and attentive and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We didn’t wait long to get our drinks and both decided on Non-Alcoholic ones. I ordered the Na Lolita, with grapefruit, guava, lime and sprite, and my aunt ordered the Tropical Punch with pineapple, orange, lime and agave. Of course I had to taste her drink as well and they both had the perfect amount of sweetness and citrus, and were really refreshing. We got some warm tortilla chips brought out right away with the house made salsa which was mild and so flavourful. I wanted a starter and chose the ceviche although I was a little skeptical about the tilapia since it is a fish I try to avoid, but since it had great reviews and I wanted something light tasting I went for it. Great choice, and it was the best part of the meal in my opinion. Not too “fishy” tasting which I find tilapia to be, and there was a generous amount of shrimp. The dish also came with two large fried chips, which for the amount of ceviche was not enough.
For our main courses, my aunt chose the Pastor Tacos, which since I don’t eat pork I could not try but she really loved them and stated they were perfectly cooked and great portions. She had hers with more of the house-made salsa and gave it a 10/10.
I had the enmoladas, which I was excited to try because I never had mole sauce, nor enchiladas before and was feeling a bit adventurous. The mole had an initial bitter taste, then a richness that was more satisfying. I did not like the enchiladas, but only because I am not a fan of soft tacos which were made softer and somewhat mushy due to being smothered in sauce. The chicken carbon alone with the mole sauce was great along with the side of rice and fresh avocado.
Overall we both enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. We paid about $25 each for meals and drinks and were both too full for dessert, but maybe next time!...
Read moreSurprisingly, this place was pretty good! The reason why I say it like that is because there were several restaurants that opened at that location and failed. This place definitely wowed me. I came after work around 6:30 and they were having half off appetizers!
Ended up getting the ceviche on the menu. Originally it was $11. This Ceviche is big enough for two to share or to have as an entree. I would give this a three out of five just because I've had some pretty good Ceviche other places. It was nice and citrusy, I do wish that the tilapia was cut differently. If it was half off again, I would probably get it again. If not, not so much.
I got the tortilla soup for $6. It was very flavorful. I wish that it had more chicken and the tortillas were on the side because once I finish my ceviche, the tortillas on top were not crispy anymore. It was evenly blended with a thick consistency. Flavorful, mild in taste, and had chunks of avocado in it, which made it extremely creamy! Four out of five.
My friend got the salsa verde enchiladas. I normally don't like enchiladas because of how heavy they are, but this one was not! I would actually order this entree next time just because of the flavor and the amount was not overwhelming. The enchiladas were stuffed with shredded chicken and top with this green sauce. It came with rice and beans. Four out of five.
Our server was fantastic. He was a younger man who obviously had some great social skills. I was waiting for my friend since she went to a different restaurant and he managed to check up on me multiple times. He was very attentive. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. I would say the price is anywhere from $11 to...
Read moreMy fiancé and I walked into this restaurant with high hopes because we saw the reviews online. Mostly good ones. On the way in some Caucasian guys are on their way out, nice looking gentlemen all dressed business casual, all 40 years of age or older. But on their way out every one of them are just starting at my woman not noticing that she is walking next to me lol not a huge deal but just pointing out the type of people eating at this restaurant. But we walk in and stand at the front for about 5 minutes, confused trying to figure out if we seat ourselves or if someone is supposed to come by and seat us. After a lady waitress walks by us like 4 times we decide “hmm maybe we seat ourselves.” So we did. Also noticing on all the menus it specifically says “scan to order” so we seat ourselves and are sitting her for not even exaggerating, 5 minutes and no one still hasn’t come by to help us. Try our hardest not to get frustrated my woman stops one of the 3 servers walking around helping people and asks how we order. And the guy goes “we come around and take your order.” I look at her like wtf🤦🏾♂️🤷🏽♂️ next thing you know 2 Hispanic ladies with a small child walk in and the server lady who has been walking around right past us the entire times goes straight up to them who haven’t even been standing and waiting for a minute. I look at her and say we are out of here. Never going back. Guess they didn’t realize I’m middleweight in the UFC Joseph Holmes, I’ve been traveling to Houston for training the last few weeks and will continue to for a while. But will not be going there again. We just got to “Lupe Tortilla” 5 minutes down the road. And WOW! 😍 doesn’t get any better...
