Looking for something a little different when you dine out? Most restaurants in the Katy, Texas area offer a standardized approach to drinking and dining away from home. But one establishment that is a little different than the rest is Pablo’s Restaurant and Club.
You know Pablo’s is different the moment you walk inside. It doubles as a restaurant and night club and it’s common to hear music playing when you visit. The lighting is nice, and I like how the restaurant side of the establishment features tables with upholstered, high back chairs, giving it a look of sophistication.
The menu at Pablo’s consists of TexMex, Indian, and Mediterranean foods. The choices are many, perhaps a few too many, because it makes it difficult to make up your mind. Food is, however, hit and miss. The Chicken Tikka and the Empanadas were pretty tasty but some of the Indian foods my family and I have tried, like the Chicken Choila, were not the best and I can think of multiple Indian restaurants in the Katy area with better Indian cuisine.
Service at Pablo’s could use some improvement. It took too long to get served our food and the wait staff took too long to check back on our table. Had they checked back more frequently, they could have easily scored additional drink sales. And speaking of drinks, the wine selection is more than adequate, but the beer needs more options.
Like I said, the atmosphere at Pablo’s Restaurant and Club is interesting and I love the colors, lights, etc. However, it seems to have a hard time straddling these differences. The restaurant, while it looks nice, doesn’t have a dress code that it follows so it is common to find people overdressed and underdressed sitting right next to each other.
I like unique dining experiences. Pablo’s Restaurant and Club is different from most of the restaurants in Katy, Texas and it makes a good choice for those who want to combine eating, drinking, and dancing in a single setting. But when I consider all factors, from atmosphere to service to food and drink quality, it rates as...
Read moreWent it around 3:30 pm today. It was fairly quiet, just one more family there dining behind us. Bar had a few people enjoying their drinks. I was recommended this place by the physician that I work with whom golfs in the area. My family and I, after his rave review, drove almost an hour to try it out. The staff was wonderful! Each and every person that I encountered was fantastic! The menu looked awesome, a variety of food to cater to every taste bud. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter, my brother the beef shawarma platter, one of the family members had chicken Alfredo, another had the veggie burger, and finally street tacos. BOTH the shawarma platters were disgusting. The food was cold, my meat was on a half slice of tortilla. Old, stale, rubber chicken. The side salad was THE ONLY thing that seemed edible. My brothers beef shawarma meat was burnt. Very hard to chew. Black, hard, and horrible best fits the description of the meat. The chicken Alfredo looked delicious but the sauce definitely tasted like cheap, store bought Alfredo sauce out of a jar. Street tacos had absolutely no flavor, just looked horribly put together. The veggie burger was enjoyed by my mother, she did say it was delicious. The concept of this pretty restaurant with a bar and amazing menu is awesome! The chef just needs to understand that people who pay expect hot food. Another family may have better luck at this place, me on the other hand is waiting for Monday so that I can give my physician a piece of my mind for recommending this place to me. We did pay the whole bill of $140 and didn’t complain because it was a learning experience and the staff was so wonderful that I didn’t want to complain. I’m not saying don’t try it because you may have better luck. My experience though, horrible. Absolutely...
Read moreThis restaurant is HORRIBLE. It was clean, nice, the karaoke lady was the best and most friendly part- but the food is terrible and I think the owner must be a lovely person with great friends who are reviewing this place well. The chicken Alfredo ( apparently cannot be subbed for shrimp for some infuriating reason) is served not with fettuccini noodles as advertised on the menu, but with spaghetti noodles. The sauce is straight from the jar of a grocery store purchased Alfredo with Parmesan added in. And this is labeled as one of their specialties. My husband got the shawarma platter per recommendation of the bartender and it was the absolute worst Mediterranean food I have ever had. The rice was hard, the beef was painfully tough and dry. The best part was the salad dressing. I ordered a salad with ranch, but got their herb salad dressing instead because the bartender got it wrong. My husband asked for ranch to appease me and the ranch was Kraft Light ranch, the horrible kind with Splenda or aspartame or something. This is a beautiful place with terrible food. We went to Dairy...
