This Shipley's location is old and dated. That's ok IF the food was good. Unfortunately this location is NOT a good Shipley's. I've ordered from many a Shipley over a looonngg period of time; I know they can be good. In addition I've found the doughnut restaurants in this area higher priced than other areas in the general Houston area. The kolaches at this location are .38¢ higher than the Cypress area. Doughnuts are more expensive too. Idk about the beverages as I've never purchased.
We've ordered here probably a half dozen times and with the exception of ONE visit the doughnuts & kolaches have been bad to awful. The yeast doughnuts have been over mixed to the point they are dense and tough. The glazes have been too sugary; yup sugar can be too sugary. The kolaches have been over baked leaving them tough & in one instance nearly burnt. **Check kolaches BEFORE you drive away. Sigh. When even the kids won't eat them you know it's bad. We've given them a fair shot so we'll pass on future visits; unless there's a sign advertising 'under new...
Read moreI woke early this morning to surprise my wife with breakfast and donuts. We were so disappointed when we opened the warm donut box only to see partly icing atop the dozen plain glazed donuts, they were dry and appeared to have been microwaved and sold to my family and I, as if they were fresh at 510AM.. when anyone could plainly see they were leftovers. At 5AM I'm expecting freshly iced warm donuts. My family and I reside in Valley Ranch and frequently visit this location. Unfortunately, we will no longer go to this location and my wife is going to post it on our community website, in addition to me informing all my Veteran comrades not to support them if they're going to...
Read moreSo, I never thought the day would come when I would actually be disappointed by a Shipley's donuts but something is off at this location. My ham and cheese kolache was super heavy and full of solid baked bread not the pillowy soft bread with a hollow center for the cheese and meat. I also ordered an apple fritter and was shocked to discover a giant ball of fried dough that weighed about 2 lbs with apple filling inside. This is not an apple fritter, at all. What happened? They used to make good kolaches and excellent apple fritters....I would rather go to Pat's Donuts at least they are reliable in what they serve. This was a huge...
