Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in Texas

We’ve been going to this Shipleys for years. Today was the worst experience we’ve ever had. The afternoon staff was inconsiderate, uncaring, and seemed genuinely unhappy in their line of work. The donuts were disgusting. They heated my glazed donuts & I couldn’t even eat them they were just gross & gooey. Cardboard tasting; complete trash. Not the Shipley’s famous glazed donuts everyone goes there for. They tasted like they were 2 days old. Also, DO NOT order the iced coffee unless you desire chocolate milk. Absolutely zero coffee & it was so sweet even my teen couldn’t drink it. I asked one of the attendants about it & all that was given to me as an explanation was “it’s a mix.” There was no offer of refund or offer of giving me something else. Not even an apology that I didn’t like it.

The straw that broke the camels back: they forgot one of our donuts & we didn’t discover until we were home. Yes, always check your bag BEFORE you leave a restaurant. Mistakes happen. I know, it’s just ONE donut & what’s the big deal? It’s not the donut, it’s the way it was handled. We did drive back up to the store for the one donut. They did not care at all how inconveniencing it was to have to drive back to the store due to their mistake. There was no apology. They just don’t seem to care about their customers. No smiles, no “have a good day,” no genuine appreciation for those paying for their services. Zero offer to make it right.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with Shipleys. Most likely will take our business to another store for donuts and kolaches from now on. Not worth the drive or cost. It was almost $15 for 3 kolaches, 1 iced coffee, and 3 donuts. Plus the time, effort, and gas it took to go to the...

This is not the Shipley's I grew up on. You're honestly better off with any generic mom and pop donut shop down the street.

The kolaches are the most noticeable difference. The bread is way to thick and dense, there is hardly any cheese, and the sausage this store uses tastes absolutely terrible.

As for the donuts, every time I went the donuts were cold and stale, even when I asked for a fresh plain glazed at 7:30 am.

Went to purchase donuts for my son as I do every Sunday morning. I put in my order at the window and then asked if that was 6 donuts and the attendant very rudely explained I needed to wait and let her check because I confused her with my order. I guess I didn't know the complex math involved. I will be supporting the local mom and Pop donut shops moving forward. They are super nice and need our business.
