Hartz Chicken Buffet — Restaurant in Texas

INSPECT YOUR WHITE GRAVY! Our first time visiting the establishment. We ordered the 4pc tender meal and a white meat combo that both came with drinks. Hungry and pregnant, ready to dig in, I ate my food in the car. Of course, I only inspected my food to ensure everything was there, not to ensure there were no bugs there. Ironically, we bypassed the buffet because we were skeptical of cleanlisnwss and COVID. To my surprise, as I’m finishing my meal, and having to look at my gravy as I dip my food because it’s getting low, I noticed a gnat inside. Totally disgusted. I took a fry to inspect the rest of gravy, thinking to myself, I’ve probably eaten several of them by now, I noticed another one😩. Upon arrival to my home, I disposed of the remaining food and call the restaurant, only to be questioned by the manager as if I was lying. I told him what happened and advised him to toss the gravy they have to save another patron from experiencing what I had and even told him I had pictures. He said, well, I’m looking at the gravy now and I only see pepper flakes. I’m like 😳. He then says, I’ll tell you what. I will go ahead and empty this one and make a new one. I’m like great, and I want my money back! Please and thank you. He then asks, well did you eat it? Um sir, yes, disgustingly I didn’t realize until towards the end. I’m so many words he refused. I’m appalled and taken back by the sanitation and the customer service. I get things happen but when you mess up, take care of it! I will...

Being a chicken connoisseur I have spent my hard earned pennies dimes and nickels at the main name chains. Driving through I came across Hartz Chicken Buffet in Atascocita. Tired of the same big names I decided to stop. Walking in you are greeted with people who seem to love it there. Ok I feel like I am in the 80s when entering but the smell makes me feel like I am in grandmamas kitchen. Looking at the prices I was like no way is this right. I could afford to feed my family and still go get a candy bar afterwards. I have had the regular fried chicken with gravy and all the sides there and now the tender (even the kids can eat) family dinner. Yes I wish they had spicy but man that first bite and I was like a savage cave man tearing into the box fighting off a 6 year old as if we were in a UFC match. The whole family got in on it and not even 10 min later everyone was full. I mean full like a valleys girls luggage for a 3 day trip. This is real food as when it isn't you can eat and eat. No sir not this time. The chicken was juicy crispy and not rubbery like the other places. I have left overs people. That is the food you didn't eat in case you are wondering. 7 people in the house with left overs for less than 60 dollars? That's bang for the buck. Worth every dollar and I will be going back. I have been here twice, I would say my experience through drive through was better than walk in. 2nd visit I wanted to try their buffet to go. My experience in food and service was very disappointing. Guy who took my order very good customer service and told me that I can get anything filled in the box. There was this Hispanic lady who started to help me box the food I wanted from buffet. She stopped me in the middle and told me that I cannot fill the box only with chicken and that I had to add vegetables to it. That was super irritating. What is the meaning of a buffet? Get whatever you want and whatever quantity that fits in the box. AND the guy who took the order INFRONT of that lady TOLD me that I can get WHATEVER filled up. After I argued, The lady did asked someone else if it was okay to fill the box with chicken the other person told her "she can get whatever she wants" thanks to that person. But after, there was no apologies for her misunderstanding and for arguing with me and instead she gave me her attitude and rolled her eyes at me. Anyways the food wasn't that great, it was cold.
