We typically drive to the Northside of town for Mexican food because let's be honest, Jersey Village, Cypress area lacks authentic Mexican food. There are plenty of tex-mex options, but not real Mexican dishes. We wanted to explore our options nearby and this place has decent reviews. The restaurant is in a small shopping center so the parking is limited. I would say it's a hole in the wall. We stopped by on Monday, around noonish. The place was actually packed, only 2 booths open, so I felt that was a good sign. We sat down and the seats were pretty beaten. Torn and sunken. Immediately we were greeted and the waitress took our drink order. A few minutes later, we were given chips and salsa. Nothing spectacular. We tend to judge a restaurant by how good the chips and salsa are, so far, we were not impressed. Our drinks came out and we placed our order. Aside from his main order, my husband wanted two tacos of desehebrada meat. Yes, they sell tacos, yes they had desehebrada meat, but they only offered the meat in flautas. We asked if we could purchase two and were told no because the flautas are already prepared, mind you, they have a sign that reads "All food made fresh, prepared when you order" so if they're already prepared, then is that considered fresh? He really wanted to try the meat, so he purchased the entire plate of flautas. My dish, the "super chilaquiles", nothing super about it. The chilaquiles had no flavor and were not spicy. The beans were smeared on the plate, meaning hardly any were given. The eggs were cooked perfectly though. The meat, the "bistec" was horrible. Honestly the meat tasted like liver. The hubs had the barbacoa al vapor, not flavorful at all. Now the flautas plate was good. The meat was good and the rice, was very good. Both of the hot sauces, green and orange were both good as well, but that's about it. We'll continue exploring this side of town for good...

Today we had breakfast at Taqueria El Nortenito, and like always they exceeded our expectations once again. They serve authentic Mexican food with a delicious homemade flavor that’s hard to find nowadays. Every dish I tried its absolutely delicious, carefully prepared, and full of that “just like home” touch. The service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and welcoming—and the restaurant itself it’s always clean, creating a comfortable and pleasant dining atmosphere. The owners are always there making sure you have a great experience while eating and they take great pride in both their food and their customer service. If you’re looking for a place that serves genuine, high-quality Mexican food with a home made flavor, Taqueria El Nortenito is the perfect spot. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or lunch this is a place that never disappoints. I highly recommend it to anyone craving a true taste of real Mexican food you won’t...

i've been around the food & service industry as a worker and customer for about 5 years now...and i've never been treated so badly in my life...i went into this place on high hopes ordered some tacos had my meal...by the end of my meal i ordered a couple of more tacos that i did not finish and was hoping to take home...i take my eyes away from the table and the staff (or what i believe to be the owner) at that point tosses my food. i asked why'd she toss my food away and she said i did not tell her not to. at this point i try and keep my cool by simply asking for a new set of tacos...THEY NEVER MADE MY TACOS in fact they went so far as to call the cops to make us leave the place over me asking for 2 tacos i had paid for and that they had tossed in the trash with...

Nice, hidden, family run restaurant. I ordered a fajita torta and taco de barbacoa. The torta was good. Simple , with fresh ingredients. The taco was huge. It was worth the 2.99. Plus the barbacoa was tasty and wasn't too greasy. I also tasted the salsa verde enchiladas with were really good. It had the balanced level of spiciness that I like. Beans and rice are good. They had a huge section on the menu for breakfast dishes that i would like to go back and try. I noticed ,when I was leaving that almost everyone there had breakfast dishes which has me wondering if I'm missing out on something awesome
