This place deserves 5 million stars!!! I am so blown away by this place I can’t put it into words. My fiancé is a carnivore, Mexican, from Brownsville, TX. I’ve been vegetarian my whole life. I am always so jealous of all the amazing Mexican food my fiancé and his family make for cookouts and family meals - all meat and all amazing Mexican food. This food at Andaluz? Let’s just say, I’m not jealous anymore. Haha it’s because they have a humongous menu with Mexican dishes, and they’re 100% vegan! And they taste like the real deal! I was skeptical bc my fiancé was like, “there’s no way vegan Mexican food can be legit,” and he has a point especially being from the Valley where he’s used to super legit tacos etc. But omg this place had extremely legit Mexican food. My fiancé was amazed. We couldn’t believe it. And like I mentioned, he has extremely high standards for Mexican food and extremely low tolerance for vegan food haha. This place is one of our new regular spots. 💯 We ordered: Guacamole Entomatadas Tacos Al Pastor Just the best place ever. We thought it was a food truck, but it’s an actual restaurant inside a market.

Update: we went again and got the fried mushroom torta. It was...

To the people complaining about the “environment”: Get over yourself 🙄. It’s inside a meat market and it doesn’t get more authentic than that. They cook their food where you can actually see what they’re doing, so I’m not sure what the big fuzz is about. Real authentic Mexican cuisine leaves you with messy fingers and satisfied tummy, and that’s exactly what Andaluz does. I’ve been vegan for over a decade and cannot believe it took me this long to find out about Andaluz. I have 6 younger siblings who are also vegan AND extremely picky about mock-meats & cheeses; not once have they complained about anything from here. Cooking takes a lot of hard work, but creating a menu that’s entirely vegan for cuisine that typically isn’t is a mf ART FORM. Andaluz never disappoints, but if they ever did, I’d give them a million more chances.

Some of our favorite dishes include but are not limited to: Al Pastor sopes Sopes Elote Arroz con leche (by far the best I’ve had,...

Finding gluten free vegan food in the Houston area can be difficult. We were going to be in the Cypress area for a bit and Andaluz happened to be pretty close to where we were going to be.

We opted for the papas con queso and grabbed 3 taco played so we could try each of the taco options. We ended up scarfing down the papas con queso before I could get a pic. The full picture is from the next day. They were soooo good we had to come back!!

I have to say that the flavors of all the options are fantastic! I haven't had great vegan tacos in Houston (I have been searching for over 3 years) until now. While the chorizo is on point I have to say that they do jackfruit right!!! No briney/aluminum can taste that all the other vegan taco restaurants serve. Hands down, THE BEST in Houston!

If only I can get them to open a spot or truck on the southeast side. Andaluz is about an hour from my house so, unfortunately, it will be hard to visit regularly. Totally...

Recommend? Yes. It's located inside of a supermarket. You would never suspect that this little place would have the absolute best vegan tacos and it's not any of that modern or "influenced" stuff. It has all the aspects of food truck tacos that I just love so much. I got the desebrada flautas, 3 tacos, and a side of the refried beans and Spanish rice. My choices of protein for the tacos were alpastor, fajita, and chicharron. The flautas had a little crunch to them and the hibiscus had a nice texture as well. Of the 3 tacos I liked the chicharron the least. The alpastor was my favorite and the fajita was good as well. I loved that they seasoned the food. Some places makes vegan tacos and forgets all the seasonings. The protein also has a nice char to it as well.
