Ever since I moved to the SE side, I've been craving Halal food. I used to go to the Gyro King in the medical center. So when I saw this pop up in on my new places to eat, I was super excited.
When you drive by, it's a bit confusing the sign out front has every kind of food listed. However, when I see Gyro Guys I assume they should have at least chicken/gyro combo.
The place is a lot bigger than I thought. My previous experiences with halal food have been small brick and mortars or food trucks, so wasn't expecting a full sized restaurant.
It's order at the counter, I got the large combo. It comes with rice, gyro, chicken, and a salad, topped with the white sauce. I took it to go and they give you a small container of their hot sauce and white sauce. I wasn't a fan of their red sauce, more like buffalo sauce, so glad it was on the side, their white sauce is delicious, wish they had packed the to go container with more.
I also order a samosa, that thing was huge! delicious too. I also got their baklava which comes with 2 pieces.
They say it takes about 10-15 minutes to prepare but as we were waiting it came out much sooner. The serving size was huge and could definitely feed 2 people or one me. I'll be back to satisfy...
Read moreThe Gyro Guys is a nice enough place to eat with a variety of offerings. I have sampled the gyro (lamb), mixed plates (lamb & chicken), and the garlic fries.
The Gyro is pretty good; the bread is soft, meat is juicy, and the taste is there. The only problem is that I've gotten mixed consistency with the preparation of the gyro. At times it has been delicious, and other times, not so much. The size of the Gyro is pretty big so it definitely fills you up.
Mixed plates are a go-to; with lamb, chicken, rice, a salad, and different sauces, it's a pretty well-rounded meal. And quite delicious, too. I find the small plates a little too small and the larger portion difficult to finish.
I tried the garlic fries on one occasion; although they were alright, they had gotten soggy really quickly with the garlic sauce ladled right on top.
I never eat in the restaurant because I don't like the dining room or the odor that hits you when you enter. I always take my order to-go.
Overall, it's not a place that will overwhelm your senses but it gets...
Read moreAfter gym me and my buddy came to this place for a quick bite. After looking at the menu I was carried away and couldn't decide what I wanted. I end up getting combo gyro meal(chicken and lamb) , which comes with fries and fountain drink and also I got chicken shawarma to go( forgot to take pics of that).
In few minutes our food was served. I was impressed with the portion of gyro. It was nicely packed with chicken and lamb.
Gyro was very delicious the pita bread was soft and delicious. Chicken and lamb tasted delicious. They both had a unique flavor and burst of both flavors complemented each other. On the other hand fries were on the different level, they were seasoned with spices and herbs and they were amazing.
My wife ate the shawarma and she told me that it was delicious. Next time I will have to try it on my own to explain.
Overall experience was good, great food, great entertainment and a...
