Failed once again, this is 3 times in a row for bad service. This time Saturday mid day place is almost empty, servers standing around. We were seated and then sat around for 10 minutes with no drink orders or visit from a server in any form. It worked out okay, because I saw they don't have fried pickles anymore and we wanted some, so instead or continuing to wait, we went down the road. They missed out on a ~$70 tab and tip. I understand when things are busy or shorthanded, but this place needs new management and training for staff ASAP. I do not see them staying open much longer like this.
I had to change this review. The service has gone downhill since they opened. My last two trips there, the service was terrible. Once at lunch with a coworker, it took 15 to 20 minutes to take our order and my coworkers order was wrong. The place was not full or busy. We were not checked on during the meal and drinks were empty. My fried fish was excellent though. I went back the following Friday night at 8PM ish. I used to not go in the evenings on a weekend because it was too crowded, but wanted to get the fried fish again. It was not busy at all. I sat at the bar. It took and appropriate amount of time to get my drink ordered, but she dropped it off and turned to fast to try and order my food. I then sat and drank a beer for 30minutes waiting to order food. Another couple came in and sat a few chairs down and waited an inordinate amount of time to get noticed. About the time I finished my beer, the server came by and took the newer couples drink order and asked if I wanted anything else. At this point, I did not as I had planned to drink a beer with my meal, and it was already gone. The server behind the bar seemed to stay busy all of the time, but for some reason many people at the bar were not getting served. Many employees were chatting and loitering.
This was nothing like the service used to be. This might be why it was not crowded on a Friday night.
Great place. Good food. This is one of my weekend pit stops for a beer and some food. Service is usually good. I have never had bad food. My only occasional issue is that it gets loud when it is...
Read moreSports bars are my favorite places for food and drink. I like the casual setting, the usually good variety of beer, the bar food and, of course, the televisions tuned to live sports action. For these reasons and others, I was psyched when I learned that a new Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux in Katy, Texas, was open, not far from my home.
The atmosphere at Walk On’s is about the way one would expect, at least from the perspective of viewing sports. There is no shortage of televisions and anywhere you sit, you will have a view of a screen. The one fact that is not what I expected is the darkness and the layout. The wood, the black walls, and other factors make it a little darker than I would prefer. And the central bar makes it less open than I expected. It’s not necessarily bad, just not what I anticipated.
With the beer, Walk On’s has a respectable selection of beer on draft and I was able to find several craft beers to my liking. If you prefer wine, there are options there as well, not to mention a full bar and signature drinks. If liquor is your preference, I recommend sampling at least one of the signature drinks, as many of them look/sound interesting.
Food at Walk On’s consists of bar fare such as sandwiches, salads, seafood, wraps, burgers, appetizers, tacos, poboys, and desserts. The food is pretty good and matches well with the beer. Prices are not bad, too. It’s also common to find special deals and offers during game days, many of which are quite economical and make a visit worthwhile.
I love sports bars and Walk Ons is a welcome newcomer to my hometown of Katy, Texas. I would like it more If it was lighter and brighter inside, with a more open, sociable layout. But otherwise, this is still a cool place for food and drink, located right next to interstate 10 for...
Read moreI normally don’t write bad reviews because I have been in this industry for 20+ years. I honestly don’t want anyone to go through what I went through. I come to walk ons at this point probably once a week. I either sit at the bar or in the bar. I normally also have my plus one or a group of at least 5-7. The servers are also 5 stars. The food is almost always excellent. So why on earth would I write a bad review? I hope the owner has cameras to watch it all. We were sitting at the bar watching football in front of the entire Ohio state fans which was cool. We asked the bartender if we could sit outside for a few because my partner was cold. We sat at the table by the door and two kids were throwing blocks and traffic cones towards the door without a parent in sight. The table next to us was annoyed. I thought I was going to get hit. One gentleman walked outside and said “nope” as he almost got hit. Finally, one of the parents shouted from across the patio for his son to cool it. I clapped and said thank you. He then started mouthing off to me. Your manager who walked by these kids multiple times said nothing. In fact she actually aggressively approached us and threatened to call the cops. I told her to. I would’ve been happy to talk to them. She told me would’ve handled the situation if someone was actually hit by a cone or block. So reactive not proactive. She then aggressively kept approaching us telling us to get out. I guess she didn’t want to address the man because she was working for a tip. Never again. I will make sure that I tell as many people as I know to avoid you guys now. The management is either rude or not even seen. As I told Jackie while she continued harassing us Karma comes back around. When we left the kids were still throwing...
