If I could give this restaurant a 0 star rating, I would. this is because I have never had a worse experience in my entire life.

To start off me and my friends walk in and stand there for a good 5 minutes waiting to be seated. One the servers comes out he just says to sit over there with the most uncaring attitude. He then proceeds to ignore us as we have no menus. We order three dishes after waiting 20 mins for him to serve us.

We get our first dish after 45 mins of waiting which is sinigang (a soup) and he gives us no bowls. My friend asks for bowls but he is too busy WEARING HIS HEADPHONES, to pay her any mind. The pork was so tough that it was hard to even cut through. For me the soup was way to sour but that is a personal preference. The vegetables weren't cut into regular pieces to even serve.

We start to notice that people that had gotten there after us were starting to leave. After another 25 mins we get our second dish, (bisteak tagalog) which again the meat was to tough, onions weren't caramelized.

Also, unlike most Asian restaurants that sell family style dishes, they don't give out steamed rice with your dishs. Which coming from a Filipino household is sacreligious.

Now for the third dish (kaldereta), we waited an extra 30 minutes to come out and it never even came. Therefore I can't even give a review on the food.

Now for our last problem. I was staring down our waiter for a good 10 mins to try to get the check and he sided eyed me and kept listening to his music. Once I got his attention and ask for the check I told him, we never received the kaldereta and to make sure it's not on the tab. He says ok and presses a few buttons and hands it to my partner. They look at it and notice that It was still on the bill. They ask again to take it off and he final understood. That would have costed us an extra 25 dollars that we never received. If he wasn't listening to his music he would have heard us.

I can't believe that are so many good reviews of this place because even as another party left a women loudly said we are never coming back here again.

We to will never be coming back here again. I sense that they are having family and friends review bomb this place because the service was garbage. The food was mediocre. And the wait time was...

Please know that my review is from a professional (culinary teacher) and personal (Filipino born and raised) point of view. 🇵🇭

Very excited to see and experience a Filipino restaurant in the Katy Asian town area! Mabuhay!

Atmosphere: The ambience and decor was very modern with a Filipino flare to it. A bit tight with limited seating but functional. The fans were typical but would suggest placing them in a bit not so obvious area literally in front of a few tables in the front foyer area. Still see some unfinished floor areas (by the front door)

Food: Pricey. Overall delicious but lots of vinegar can be tasted throughout the dishes and sauces. The steamed rice (extra cost) was dry. Lechon was extra crispy and perfect! You can spruce it up a bit with a banana leaf instead or a lettuce leaf. Would’ve loved to have all of our food out at the same time. It took pancit palabok an extra 10-15 mins after our other items. It also wasn’t as hot as expected. I also had to ask for the condiments (patis and soy sauce). It would be nice on the tables in cute bottles- hence the name of your restaurant;)

Service: Try to welcome guests as they come in with a Filipino hello or camusta! Dennis was our waiter. He was nice and personable. Could use some more upselling of your fun items (ube pancakes or any of the appetizers) so the tab can go up! He did try to sell the drinks though! Good job! I did have an issue of seeing the other servers on their phones. That’s not good business when customers can see you on the phones than paying attention to them. I actually had to ask about the status of my pancit order and if I could have some soy sauce.

Overall- good place to try. Lots of people checking it out and excited about it. It was an experience. One that I can say with a smile. Good luck! Have a great thing...

Review for 10/12/2024

We came to Patis y Toyo a little after opening, and Alnim greeted us and us seated with water and took our drink order after we looked through the menu. My husband got a sweet iced tea, and I got a milo iced mocha. It was SO good!! My husband enjoyed it too and he even got it to go.

I was originally going to get Filipino breakfast because that’s what I was craving on the drive there, but the menu had me so excited that I veered off course. We ordered lumpia shanghai, tokwat baboy, lechon kawali, adobo pusit, sizzling sisig bangus. Our favorite was the sisig bangus—wonderful texture, loved how bright it was compared to the pork dishes. I’m a big adobo squid fan and really loved seeing it on the menu. The sawsawan that came with the complimentary shrimp chips was nice and vinegary and perfect to accompany the lumpia (this is my personal preference, I’m not a big sweet chili fan but my husband enjoyed the lumpia with the sweet chili).

Service was great. Alnim was very attentive and even other FOH employees were nice. It really felt like I was dining at my aunty’s house—my very fancy aunty haha.

I know that people might say that the ambiance might be a little fancy but I loved it. I love the decor, I love the fact they play Filipino music. I love that they are unapologetically Filipino in this restaurant. Filipino food deserves to be fancy and deserves to be in the spotlight for all it has to offer, and this restaurant especially deserves it because of its food and service alone.

I already told my family that we are all coming here to try more things on the menu (especially the cocktails!) and that there are things for our seafood and veggie lovers. Can’t wait...
