We visited Woodson’s yesterday, Oct 17, 2025, for a late lunch, early dinner. Tony wanted a burger so we thought we would slide into this local fav and give it a whirl! Man, on man, are we glad we did! Such a great spot! Let’s start with first impressions - they have a dog friendly, spacious outdoor patio seating area! Their only request is that dogs be leashed 🦮 makes sense to me, cause these are some killer burgers and I could see a food-napping taking place otherwise. So, come one, come all - just leash your dog 😉 Inside is super chill and inviting. While it is a “bar” technically, made very clear by everything centering around a well-equipped, fully stocked bar - it’s really an all around accommodating restaurant. I would feel totally comfortable bringing the family here during the not-so-busy, not late hours - they’re definitely set up with everyone in mind, which I love! Plenty of seating around the bar - 360 degrees! Plenty of tables as well and I didn’t count the TV’s mounted on the walls because I ran out of fingers and toes - so, sports fans - this is your place! I almost broke my neck watching the Formula One races while we ate. There’s a view available to anyone from literally any seat in the house which is super impressive! Our server was Alissa and she was OUTSTANDING! Of course - I had to quiz her about her favs on the menu and she was so willing to indulge my greedy little self - cause I love food and I hate to have to decide on just one thing, so I want it to be the best choice possible…lol. And this girl knew the menu, which speaks volumes! I went with the new Smashburger & fries - SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! The bun was something special - which is often overlooked in the art of burgers, so hats off to Woodson’s for attention to detail. And it didn’t stop there. The cheddar cheese was super yummy - and the perfect thickness of smoky cheddar, melted! Thick slices of red onion (such a nice touch), amazing small batch, thick pickles that were superb! And the FRIES touched my foodie heart! They’re just special - perfectly fried, battered just different, I searched my description database and that’s the best word for it - “special” (see photos for a better description, but I ate as many as I could fit in my belly) and the ENTIRE burger. I did my level best to make a truly happy plate but I stopped short of a few fries - it is what it is 🤷🏻♀️ Tony went with the American and he couldn’t finish it! A half pound patty - cooked to order (he’s a medium kinda guy and it was cooked perfectly). He gave the same report on his burger and fries! We had no room to test out anything else but we have plans to return soon! The ticket was just over $30! Like WHAT?!? So we gave the rest of what it was really worth to Alissa with grateful little glutinous hearts and left fat full! The entire place is super clean - the crowd is chill & friendly. Overall - an awesome addition to the eatery options...
Read moreFirst off I have to say this is one of mine and my husband's favorite places to go! We love the food, the drinks, the atmosphere and the service!! The servers there are so friendly and thoughtful, all of them have been great. One of the girls there we get all the time and she is spectacular, she is so on top of everything, she always knows right when to bring us our drinks (we frequent this place for afternoon/ early evening drinks often), she's so friendly and fast, very attentive, she is just so great (hope she forgives me as her name escapes me at the moment, will see if I can edit and add it later as I do want to give her the credit she deserves!). The food is fabulous, there hasn't been one dish that I've ordered that I personally haven't enjoyed. My personal favs are the Woodson's Cajun pasta, and the summer Salad!!! Mmmm just so amazing!!! They have great drinks as well. One of my favs right now, it's a newer drink, is the great n summer. It is so good, pretty dangerous cuz they're so refreshing so if you're sitting on their lovely patio (which is what we do) on a hot day which is everyday lol, you may end up having one to many rather quickly and find yourself a little too refreshed lol!! As mentioned the patio is very nice imo, it's pet friendly, and there are shades they can bring down if the sun is blaring in and you need some shade, has good air flow I feel, with ceiling fans. It's all very clean, haven't ever seen a dirty table, they seem very prompt in cleaning up. I haven't really been there at a rush hr except for one time, but again everything was very clean. Haven't eaten inside yet, but from walking thru it looks very clean, and they even have some games inside (haven't played them, but I've seen others and they look fun!). Full bar, the bar is amazing imo! Bartenders all seem very good at their jobs and again haven't had a drink I don't like so that's a good sign lol! Everytime I've been there (and we go a lot), the bathrooms are always clean too! Trying to touch on all points for anyone looking at trying this place out. And just to be clear I'm reviewing the woodson's on 1488 and carriage hills. It's just a great bar and restaurant!! ❤️ Highly recommend!! EDIT: Just adding to this, with the price point I put I did it per person with the thought of meal and drink(s), so that being said, it's not a super pricey establishment, its very comparable to your average bar and...
Read more🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A NIGHT AT WOODSON’S I WILL NEVER FORGET 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
From the moment I stepped through the hallowed doors of Woodson’s, I knew I was in for something different. The air itself was seasoned—no, marinated—with the intoxicating aroma of sizzling burgers, smoked wings, and the faint whisper of freshly poured craft beer.
But nothing… and I mean nothing… could have prepared me for what was about to unfold.
Enter Heather—the manager, the legend, the guardian of Woodson’s sacred flame. Picture this: a minor kitchen mishap caused the fryer to momentarily sputter, sending a puff of smoke toward the dining area. Mere mortals would have panicked. The average manager might have quietly fetched a fan or waved a towel.
Not Heather.
With the agility of a gazelle and the commanding presence of a Navy admiral, she launched herself—yes, launched—toward the source. Her apron billowing like a superhero’s cape, she slid across the polished floor in a maneuver I can only describe as equal parts action movie stunt and ballet pirouette. With one hand, she silenced the fryer’s fury; with the other, she simultaneously reassured guests with a megawatt smile and shouted to the kitchen, “WE DO NOT SURRENDER TO MINOR INCONVENIENCES!”
Applause. Literal applause broke out in the restaurant. A child nearby whispered, “Mommy… is that Wonder Woman?” I wiped a tear.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Heather personally hand-delivered my burger—an ethereal symphony of flavors, stacked so perfectly it belonged in a museum—apologizing unnecessarily for the barely noticeable delay. She offered complimentary appetizers “to honor the resilience of our shared journey,” as she put it.
Heather, you are the unsung hero of hospitality, the shield-maiden of service, the culinary commander we never knew we needed. Woodson’s, under her watch, isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an experience. A saga. A triumph of the human spirit… seasoned perfectly and served...
